How to start sewing for money

I have already done projects for my boss by her getting the needed fabric and I sew what ever she wants but I was wondering how to get word out to start making money to sew. I get paid very little at my side job so my boss says go ahead, but I have no clue how to advertise it.

Sometimes you have to make a lot before you can sell stuff. Etsy.com seems like a good place to sell some pre-made things and work out commissions from there... since it seems like you only have to keep it as stocked as you want. (I'm currently just an Etsy-lurker, so I don't know for sure)
You might also try checking out websites that cater toward the type of sewing you like to do. The Cosplay and Steampunk sites I've been to have a special page just for commissions/advertising. These would also give you a sense of price range for comparison with the items you would be making.
Other than that, I would suggest checking out local craft fairs, especially with the holidays coming up.

Etsy.com !

It's free other than the listing price for each item (which is like 10 cents, really cheap!) And they take a small it everytime you sell something, but it's worth it!

You can list your items you have to sell, or can make. It's HUGE, and I Recommend it!

If you go to etsy.com, it has lots of information, or just go here: http://help.etsy.com/app/answers/list

I use www.shophandmade.com. It is 100% free, unless you choose to donate something to them or an environmental cause.
