Does anyone else write poetry?
Lol, I see all the "i used to" everywhere.
But yea, I still write it.
I've suddenly started to come up with stories one of which I'm trying to write, I have a beginning and a middle but the end needs work
I write it...but its dutch -.-' XD
ive been writing since i was 12... haha it really sucked then but its gotten better.
i love to write poetry!
it feels as if all your thoughts, opinions, feelings
are being poured out onto a piece of paper, smoothly, and carefully
and turning out amazing!
i love looking at a poem i've written in the past and thinking wow! i wrote that?
poetry is just beautiful to me.
The last time I put a poem online everyone responded with "But that's not a word!" and I just sighed and banged my head against the keyboard and said forget this, and told everyone to read Billy Budd (Or, really, any good book and see how the writer plays with language, it's just the word I used was originally Melville's! And can you imagine if Milton hadn't worked with language? No pandemonium for us... or the other half of our language) And no one has read a word I've done in verse to this day. That was after someone told me, "I have to think too hard to read what you're writing." And I thought, well, sure, I make a lot of allusions to other works, but I don't use really difficult language and I use really, really simple sentence structure. I think people really should think about poetry. So I continued to write until the word fiasco.
So I still write poetry. A lot of it, actually. But now I write it for myself and really geek it up and don't post it.
Ah... the legion of "used-to-be" poets. I've kept journals for years, and try to write something (whether it be poetry, a song, a story idea, an essay, a rant, or just a description of something I saw) everyday. I stay forcibly inspired, I suppose. I used to write only when I felt depressed and lonely, but as I've gotten older I've found that writing about a whole range of experience is more fulfilling.
I agree with Violinagin. People should think about poetry, and poetry should make people think. I believe that people have misconceptions about poetry and language in general. "It's not poetry if it doesn't rhyme." "You can't use that; it's not a real word..." People respond negatively to actual attempts at creativity... which is not to say that a piece with traditional rhyme, meter, and word usage can't be thought-provoking, unique, inspired, or truly creative.
I actually just wrote a poem for my English literature H. class, and I like it Is anyone on poetry.com?
im not....
ive been writing poetry since 3rd grade. i love it . since i dont have enough patience for stories and poetry can embody feelings in just a few lines. i know that sounds stupid but it can
I havn't wrote much poetry. I've tried a few times
OK, I wrote sumthin but dont judge harshly, im only 12 after all.
You sat next to me last Tuesday
and made a stupid joke
I laughed a pessimistic laugh
and went back to counting stray cats
staring out the bus window and
You reached for my hand
but I took it back
time passes
five kids get off the bus
we don't
you beg me to just say something
and smooth a tendril of black curls from my face
kissed my nose
"Say something"
then go for my lips
words tumble out of my mouth
"I missed you too, love"
I love poems, maybe I should try
You should michelle! And stephie I liked your poem!
Mine are all sad, heres a more recent one of mine
No More
I'm tired of it,
Tired of you telling me who to be,
And how to feel,
And being scorned either way
No more,
I'm breaking free
I'm getting away
And I'm done with you
voila. i like it.
