Characters in Books that you miss when you finish the book
I started this as I was adding to the current thread on what your reading and it got me thinking about when I read the Rainmaker. When I finished that I really missed Rudy (the main character). It was like he was someone I'd got to know. I wandered if anyone else has had that? I've had it with other books too but can't think of any of the top of my head right now.
I've had that too, missing characters when they are gone. Sometimes I consider them my friends, and when the book is over I miss them
I identified somewhat with Elphaba from Wicked, so I missed her. And I also kind of identify with Schyuler Van Alen from the blue bloods series, so I kind of subconsciously consider her a friend
oh I agree, Elphaba
I really missed the main characters in the Time Travellers Wife (amazing read if you stick with it) and Before I Die. That was so sad and I cried buckets at the end but I'd read it again in an instant. It was really moving but made you feel alive and that you don't want to waste what you've got (even if its not great).
Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings. I've read that book literally about thirty times and i cry at the end every time, lol.
Harry, Ron, Hermoine, Fred & George, Mrs Weasley, Dumbledore, Sirius, Lupin - guess where they're all from!
Lyra from Northern Lights. My first born daughter shall be named Lyra!
ohhh i miss elphaba too i love wicked i was so happy my college english class paid for us to go see it in chicago at the fords theatre .......AMAZING.......
i agree with the Elphaba comments! I also missed most of the lord of the rings characters when the book ended.
A lot of the fairy tale characters in the books i read i always want to know more, like how their life ended, what happened after, and if they had anymore adventures. but then i always mark up missing the characters as a the book being really well written, otherwise you wouldn't miss them.

You know, I also missed Elphaba. Gregory Maguire really made me care for her and now I look at the Wizard of Oz in a different way. Although, my all time favorite character is author Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch. He is in a handful of Connelly's books and I just LOVE him; I really go through a postpartum depression of sorts after I finish a book he is in. Most recently I miss Death and Dream from Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. Two more of my favorite characters that I connected with.
Just finished 2 of the Sherlock Holmes series and he's wonderful. I'm having to come to terms with the fact that I haven't got anymore to read so reading dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde and still expecting Sherlock to pop up somewhere. He's so bitchy and cutting with some of his comments but so good to read.
I'm currently reading the Count of Monte Cristo and I'm gonna miss him when I've finished. His mind do twist and turn like a twisty turny thing and he sho knows how to get his revenge=)
I was right, I finished the Count of Monte Cristo a couple of days ago and I totally miss him now. I defy anybody to read that book and not develop a bit of a crush on him=)
I miss Anne Shirley. She's possibly my favorite heroine, and I miss her even when I'm not reading the books!
Oddie(lol), from Dean Koontz' Odd Thomas books...it's like I went to high school with him or something. I heart him.
Perrin, Elayne, Nyneave, Egwene, and Min from the Wheel of Time(currently reading Gathering Storm).
Harry, Hermione, the Weaslys, Hagrid, Dumbledore T-T, Sirius T-T, Lupin and Tonks, Neville, Luna....yeah, duh, Harry Potter.
Sookie, Eric, Sam, Amelia, Pam, and Jason....Sookie Stackhouse books(btw, the books are WAAAAY better than the show. Not near as whorey, either)
