Bloody Chavs!

Well the sterotype of chavs here is usually they don't have much money, some will claim to or do because they have such a brand of tracksuit. They drink on the streets and there has been a lot of murders by this type of people I'm not saying all of them would kill someone but there has been a few attacks on people for little reason or none at all that have resulted in the victim being killed, for fun. And they're not really using knives or guns its mostly literally kicking someones head in. A woman of 20 was killed when a group of youths turned on her after she tried to get them to stop beating up her boyfriend, they were goths. The kids who killed her got sent to jail for 15 years when they're about 17? They laughed in court with their parents.

I was verbally harrased by a big group of them all drunk several weeks ago, it's humilating, I didn't say anything back incase they chased me.

oh wow. ya i guess chavs are diffterent depending on where you are. its not good no matter where you are and i really prefer not to hang out with them. im not a jerk because of it, thats just my preference in people. im kinda sick of getting fussed at for having an opinion that might be a little different than someone else.

The problem is that your opinion is judgemental and rude. Racists have an opinion different to other people, but that doesn't make it okay. And my main problem is the title of the thread because YOUR problem is not being able to meet people you like, which is fair enough, but in the thread title you've made it obvious that actually all you're doing is complaining about a group of people that YOU have categorised. Oh and also that it's obviously okay to use labels but it becomes destructive when you treat someone differently for it (that's called discrimination).

i am under the impression Rena was just venting about a certain situation, I am sure she did not mean to make it sound like a big ravoli bomb dropped on someone's white shirt. thanks sug! and kk im sorry i pissed you off but like sug said i was venting. people do that to get things off their chest not get bitched at for being upset. you may be politically correct in all you say in do but where i live, we're allowed to get pissed off for being hurt by numerous people in one category.

Okay fair enough, but you know I think it's wrong to categorise a group of people because in the most basic form of being human to each other, I reckon that people should treat each other the way they'd like to be treated, and I don't much like it when someone takes one look at my black hair and decides I'm a goth and they don't like me. You didn't piss me off but I'm always going to stand up for what I'm believing, whether it's to you or my best friend.

It is wrong to categorize people, I agree Knittin' Kitten, but we all do it, without even realizing it. As much as we hate being categorized...we do it anyway. I catch myself doing it..and for the longest time I used to get SO MAD at people for doing it...until I started realizing I did it too. It's not a matter of categorizing people...it's a matter of how comfortable someone is about saying something about it. And I totally agree that people should do onto others as they would like people to do onto them, but if I recall, I don't believe Rena did anything wrong to anyone, other than complain. She didn't go up to them and say "YOU STUPID CHAVS"...no...she vented in a healthy way...sorta...public, but healthy. We all sometimes need to vent about people who don't exactly have their heads screwed on right. It's a matter of how we handle it.

Oh no I categorise. Me and my boyfriend were chatting about this, how he gets called a hippy but generally doesn't like hippies and I get called a goth even though I generally don't like goths. I think my point has been missed... it's that she was acting on categorising people. Everyone says "she's a chav, she's a grunger", whatever, but it's when you treat someone differently by appearance that I think you're doing wrong, which is what she seemed to be doing.

This has all got so out-of-hand haha, I only meant it as a casual comment.
