Stupid freaking project...
I'm having one of those nights... Nothing is going right, my fingers are cracked and bleeding from stabbing myself (I usually hand sew everything), and I'm already angry and irritable from cramps!
I tried to make a cute shrug out of an old t-shirt and while I was sewing the casing (HALF WAY THROUGH!) I realized it was inside out.... I had to just sit there and count to 10 before going completely Christian Bale on my project...
For every successful project I create it seems that 5-7 other failed attempts have paved the way. I get so fed up with obsessing over getting things and checking and re-checking and finding out that it's wrong anyway! I just want to scream obscenities and throw things around the room that I just spend a day cleaning and picking up....
It's times like these that I just want to rant.
RANT!
RAAAAAANNNNTTTT!
I found projectrant.com and decided to submit my seething anger over a romper project gone HORRIBLY wrong (titled: Dear Crafters). They ended up turning it into a youtube video. If you feel my frustration and anger, please... commiserate with me T_T (and also check out Hilah enacting my rant on youtube. It's hilarious)
LOL!!! I most defenetly know what you mean! The other day I was trying to make up my own pattern for a over the shoulder bag, and I cut out all my pieces, and couldnt figure out how to put it together. The finished bad was a rectangle, with a flap top, but it was only made out of three parts... it took me forever! I kept sewing it up and hen figuring out it was all wrong, unpicking it and trying again. By the morning of the second day I cut apart the bag I had been looking at for inspiration and resewing it onto my fabric using it as a lining! I was way pissed by the end and way happy to see the thing mailed off (as part of a swap) I turned out looking cute, but the nect day I rode the bus into town and bought a sewing pattern, for the next time I feel like making a bag! lol
thats quite a rant on project rant!! You have very good literacy skills
Is is very annoying when things dont go to plan, especially if others can do it easily, but i'm sure you'll learn from your mistakes and remember the next time you do something similar, x
Well, I decided to "own my mistake" and just make the shrug rustic looking. When I went and tried the finished project on I realized that the pre wash I put it in had shrunk it a size and a half so it no longer fits me -_- It's just one road block after another...
Thanks Claire. I normally don't talk like that unless I'm writing essays, emails, or just really really mad. I get strange glances if I bust out the unorthodox vocabulary.
I sew everything by hand too! My mom bought me a sewing machine for my 17th birthday but I broke it when my sister ran into my room scaring the crap out of me. So basically I jammed the whole thing. It's gonna cost 80 bucks to fix it! And I live on my own so 80 is quite a bit right now. My best friend's mom just gave me hers but I can't figure the thing out for the life of me!
I so understand what you're talking about. I also don't follow patterns. I've found it to be a lot easier if I just pin EVERYTHING together first. Sometimes it hurts of course when I'm trying something on, but saves me a lot of time.
I feel your pain I hate it when I spend hours on a project just to find ive messed it up. Ranting is great medicine especially if im irritable and frustrated with my projects.
Sometimes i mess up a project and just roll with it though and hope for the best, then rant when it doesn't. I'm a very impatient crafter lol.
