new uniform rant

Last year we got a new headteacher at our school. (Who we all hated in the first place because of her patronizing tendencies.) She decided to bring in a new uniform, ignoring all of the pupils and most teachers. Our new uniform consits of the most disgusting mustardy gold coloured tie with blue stripes,a v neck jumper and a white shirt.So today i went to get some white shirts and discovered I CANT WEAR WHITE! i am so washed out, i look like the walking dead.To make matters worse, our ties are clip-on so we cant have any individuality and theyre expensive.

Why change the old if it's still good?
Does that woman think all pupils have a MoneyTree in there backyard? Or is it a step in changing your whole school... I can image how you look, my friend also looks like a ghost when she wears white.
I'm lucky to live in The Netherlands where we never had school uniforms.

Those are horrid colors, but you may be able to salvage the individuality and make yourself not look so washed out. Check to see the rules on makeup. You can apply some light cheek and eye rouge to help keep you from looking too washed out.

You just practically described my school uniform! I hate it too! And I have to wear a blazer that's got padding in the shoulders and makes me look like an American Football player! ARGH!
It sucks I know, when we all swapped to disgusting clip-on ties we hated it, but y'know after a few weeks no-one even cared anymore. (Plus there's nothing funnier than seeing a chav in a clip on tie!) I'm pale so white isn't the best colour on me either, you've just got to make sure you do your hair nice, and have an awesome bag to help show your personality!

I would suggest using bronzer or a good self tanner to help with the washed out look. Also make sure you keep your eyebrows trimmed and hair neat as Hollypolly mentioned. Look for little ways to express yourself like nail color, or hair-do's.

If all of the other girls who have to wear the uniform as well hate it, you should start a petition! I know I would if I had to wear mustard with ANYTHING.

I agree with Monika. Raise hell over it! I wouldn't go to school if I had ever had to wear a uniform. And I would have made my parents switch me elsewhere. Uniforms are a horrible way to make everyone appear the same and dissolve diversity. They act like diversity is such a bad thing! And it's not!
