Dear my Generation:

I will be graduating from high school this year, and over my years of my secondary education, I have learned some very interesting things.

My rant is about how other kids my age, make me look bad. I am a good kid, if you walk past me in the morning, I'll say good morning, etc. I'm not overly rowdy.

However, the kids who disrespect older people and have no disregard for anybody else just piss me off!!

For example:
"If you've got it, flaunted it."

I have lost count of times, where I can visibly see a girls butt cheeks because her shorts, skirt or dress is too short. I don't understand why people have to come to school half dressed!

And this just happens to be a pet peeve, but when you smoke (not hating, i have a few friends that do) and you tuck your smoke behind your ear to look cool, YOU LOOK DUMB.

There is my rant.
My question for you is, do you ever feel like other people just ruin it for you?

First of all, yay you! I'm happy for every single young lady who SEES what is wrong with her generation. I know it sounds as if I'm 80, but todays teenagers are hell.

I just recently got the creeps when I saw two -really- young girls ( about MAYBE 9 years old ) in a store, in front of the MAKE UP, discussing wildly about what's in and what's out. It made me half angry, half sad. It's the same girls that will start to dress like hookers at the age of 12 and start having "Boyfriends" and harassing classmates that don't "date" yet... At an age where I thought boys were just SO stupid!

You know what, I blame the TV!
Just as I blame it for bullimia, drunk teens and the overall growing stupidity of mankind.
( and I blame overly sensitive, "you're the fifth winner", anti-authoritarian education! )

Pffft teenagers.
Im 15 and ashamed of it. I visited my cousins yesterday, aged 9 and 12. The 9 year old had an iTouch. I mean, WTF, shes 9! And the 12 year old was attached to her phone. She had a better phone than me.
Im class, the other girls discuss who they had sex with this weekend, how drunk they got and what they've stolen. It wouldnt be as bad, if it was with the same guy two weeks in a row.
Im considered a 'nerd' because I dont drink, smoke, steal, do drugs or screw strangers.

I also blame pop music. All it is, is drugs, sex and alcohol. And music about anything else is 'gay'.. Oh yeah, dont get me started on homophobes.

The world is getting harder and harder to live in. We're getting stupider. Theres no reason to have our own ideas anymore, because the media tell us what we want. Having individual ideas, is frowned upon here. I wore a Marilyn Manson shirt the other day, whilst walking with my mum, dad and little brother, and the security guard laughed at my mum.

The main problem with teenagers though?
They're getting worse.

I agree with you girls!I see 12-14 year old girls dressed waaay too sexy for their age and I always think "Wow,at that age I was playing outside with my friends!"
And 8 year olds with cell phones and Fb accounts...

And the part that they ruin for me is that I don't feel like going out to our favorite pub anymore, its starting to get crowded with 15 year old wanna be punk kids and they are really annoyingly noisy and "Look at me Im so cool and all grown up!". bLAAH...

Oh,and I started to smoke when I was 16-17,but even then I knew putting a cigar behind your ears is NOT cool. Happy

Its a mad world! I think more than not teens are afraid to be regected, so they think if they follow the latest trend, dress too old for their age and act like everyone else they wont feel the pressure. I have a 14 year old daughter...no other children, she attends a school where they made it 7th grade through 12th, so basically you have 12 year olds with 20 year olds.I thank the universe everyday for the simple fact that our family has awesome communication, we talk openly about everything and i support her in most of her decisions. I have met alot of ppl from her school that need a spanking and then a hug because they really havent anyone to go to. here where we live its a lack of actually parenting and more of a "whatever you want to keep you off my back" scenerio. i find that alot of parents afraid to disipline their children. which in the end only leads to disaster.

Sigh. Happy I have a 9 year old daughter and a 7 year old son and they go to the local public school.. my daughter is always coming home with horror stories about the girls she knows from school... 8 year olds saying they have had sex with 15 boys and been pregnant before...lil tiny girls threatening death on classmates... boys that go around saying.. basketballs a "colored mans" sport... my kids tell me about how their friends have FB accounts and so on and so forth... it makes me want to cry. I love my kids so much, but I detest the world they have to grow up in. They are the sweetest, kindest most loving children you will ever meet and they are given a hard time about the fact that their mommy is "gothic" and bec we do not go to church. My daughter is picked on by her friends bec she loves her lil brother and isnt mean to him. WTF?! And I have to explain to my kids in a way they can understand of why their friends say and do the these things. I dont always have an answer and I always find myself saying... "all you can do is try to be the best person you can be regardless of the rest of the world"... when inside I'm screaming at the parents who cant be bothered to pay attention to their children and care enough to remember they are only babies they still need to be taken care of!... Ok.. I think I'm done now.

Oh dear god I compleatly agree... It's disgusting that there are kids about half my age that are - I wouldn't even called it sexy because I find it repulsive - practically nude is all I can call it. I think that these girls msut have low self esteem or are not comforable in their own skin.

I'm a big girl but I still like who I am, I do get frustrated sometimes that I don't have anyone nor can seem to find anyone that loves me for me, but I'm not going to change myself just to get someone.

What makes me even more angry is when these kids still dress practically naked in the WINTER. I feel like saying, "dude you're gonna freeze your giblets off!!"

I agree Mi. Ezekatze, Melvin and Violetta!
The media basically portrays that being trashy is the new "in" thing. and you have to be bone thin to be considered beautiful.

A reason why I love the 50's so much, is that they wore full skirts and dresses and people were considered drop dead gorgeous. And Marilyn Munroe who was a size 12 (Correct me if I'm wrong, i think it's either that or 14 ..) and she was an ICON. And she had curves!

Another thing that really truly bugs me.
I personally believe that if you as a woman, cannot afford birth control (mine is $6 a month!) then you should not be having sex. Yes, condoms work but I kid you not, I know two girls at the moment who are already pregnant, one that has a 6 month old and a girl who miscarried.

We have sex ed, but nobody really understands the consequences, and everyone thinks with the "Oh, it'll never happen to me."

Oddbreed, that is AWESOME that your family has a relationship like that. I value you mine soo much, they will definately thank you for it!

About the dresscode thing, we have a girl in town that goes to ( or at least DID go... ) the only really catholic school we have. I just recently heard that she went to school in a mini skirt, blouse and latex corset and SUSPENDERS! At the age of 16, TO SCHOOL!!! I know at that age they try to find tehmselves, and even if I as a mother would not agree, waring this outfit while clubbing -might- be understandable... But to school? ( Our schools in germany aren't as strict as some american schools seem to be, but if I was headquarter, I would have given her an hour to drive home, dress properly and come back...... )

And about parenting... Don't get me started on that one, I used to work at a kindergarden for a while.........
Just one incident, we had a mother of two, both girls really not the smartest ( I assume instead of usefull toys, they were placed in front of the TV after kindergarden... ).
The mother......... I could have slapped her OVER and OVER and OVER!
Once we played a game where her older girl had to pretend she was sea sick. She didn't know what it was so we explained that she could just play dizzy. Her mother was already there to pick her up and watched. Due to further frustration of not knowing the word, the little girl had sort of shut down and just sat there, staring at us. Then this unbelieveable woman laughed and told her daughter to play DRUNK. Me, as naive as I can be sometimes, was joking about the fact that she should not know what THAT looks like and the mom just laughed even harder and told me and my colleague that she must have seen it so many times before with her mom!!!!!!!! CAN YOU FRIGGIN BELIEVE THAT? The girl was 4 years old!!! My colleague and I were like..... O_________________O

Any more questions why kids are the way they are these days?

By the way, same mom, was pregnant with a third child, about 7 months into it. She came into the building, STILL HOLDING HER FUCKING CIGARETTE BUTT while pulling jacket zippers and so on, and I was like, wtf... Asked her why the hell she was still smoking and I got a shoulder shrug and a half mumbled excuse about addiction... Yaaaay...

AMEN SISTERS!

I am 27 years old...(almost 28, but I stopped counting) and Even with only a 10 year gap I can tell a huge difference between what goes on in schools now, opposed to when I was a teen.

Now, in the little girl section of clothing stores you'll see stuff that I as a grown ass adult would be ashamed to wear. Target had DISNEY channel clothes with mini skirts and fishnet stockings the other day. I almost died!

When I was a kid, I knew that dressing slutty MEANT you were slutty...and I never appreciated the disgusting drooling glares that nasty old men would give you if your shirt was just a LITTLE bit too tight.

I'm totally with you Jessie J. I should have been born in the 50's. When women and girls were "Ladies" and "young ladies"...and were treated as such.

Mi.ezekatze: OMG that's awful, that would have reduced me to tears if I'd have seen that with my own pair of eyes. The only story I've heard worse then that was a story my sister told me of this woman in the area she used to live in. The area my sister used to live in is basically full of social rejects - sorry to use a harsh term but it's the only way I can get it across - druggies and alkies etc.

This woman was a crack addict and got pregnant. She didn't give up her crack addiction at all (which I can understand is easier said then done from my point of view) but she carried to full term. My sister said that when this baby cried, they tried giving it milk, dummies, changing its nappy etc. The baby didn't stop crying, it was crying for crack. Where the mother had used it throughout the pregnancy it had got into the baby's system too. That reduced me to tears!!

Melvin: I also hate it when people use the term "gay" outside of its context. Whenever they describe something as rubbish or whatever they call it gay!!! It really annoys me, it must really piss off gay people too...

My daughter is starting kindergarden next fall. Reading spookiesweety and oddbreed's posts scare the hell outta me! In my generation, we kids were all pretty innocent until atleast 14-16 years old..we didn't care so much about fasion, nobody dressed like a hooker...etc. My mom always told me that I wasent allowed to have a bikini swim suit until I had the 'goods' to fill it.
We only had 3 chanels on our TV (we werent very well off).. usually got to watch 1 show a day. We would rather be outside playing anyways. I had a pretty happy/fun childhood.
I see kids today trying to grow up way too fast. And I feel hopeless as a mother trying to protect my daughter from all this.

@jessi.. How did you turn out to be such a great teenager? Was it something your mom did in raising you? Id love to know, I hope my daughter(s) can be as strong as you to resist the mainstream teenage garbage.
