Another Wedding Help Thread
Hello! I seriously need some advice on planning my wedding, it's in 2 months!!!!
Theme: Renaissance/Faery
Colors: whatever. It's meant to be sort of like a play, with the bridal party playing characters. I'm a faery, and my bridesmaids are faeries as well, of different elements/things in nature. My groom will be a Renaissance man(my friend does not get that. She's like, "So what's Daniel?"), and so far, we have no clue what his groomsmen are going to dress as. He's going to chat with them about that soon.
Setting: A beautiful old 'lodge' building, in a park about 15-30 minutes from where we live. It's only $100 to rent for the day, and our parents are going to split the cost. It's also very small, so we'll only be inviting about 80 people, which will cut the cost of food and drink down.
Food/Cake: A friend is going to make us a 3 tiered professional cake, for FREE! I've kind of given her artistic freedom with it, but she's been showing me woodsy faery inspired cakes...and they're awesome. The food will probably be a combination of pot luck and faire food. I think finger foods will be perfect. We're talking about getting a keg of ale, too.
The guests will also be encouraged to dress in costume, if they want.
Here are my problems:
1. Decorations. I'm kind of stumped. My girlfriends and I will end up making a bunch of things, which is fine, I just have no clue what to use...
2. Rings. We had been planning to get a titanium set from an Etsy.com artist, these- http://www.etsy.com/listing/46094595/titanium-ring-set-or-wedding-bands-frost
Or others from the same artist, because they are tough and only $80 for the set. But I'm not really feeling them. I'm not normally an overly girly girl, but I kinda want my wedding ring to be a little more romantic that that.
I love this one, http://www.etsy.com/listing/41589941/fairy-princess-engagement-ring-moss?ref=sr_gallery_10&ga_search_query=fairy+princess+ring&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&includes]=tags&includes]=title
and the man's ring... http://www.etsy.com/listing/41589941/fairy-princess-engagement-ring-moss?ref=sr_gallery_10&ga_search_query=fairy+princess+ring&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&includes]=tags&includes]=title
only she doesn't have it in his size, and I don't think she does customs...
Your wedding sounds great...a true "fairy tale" day!
I love that fairy princess ring (just had a look at it now) and if that's what you want, well just go for it!It would be lovely on you. and you deserve it....
Your wedding will be wonderful!
Here are some ideas you could make (we are making the same decorations for our friends wedding)
Also here is a tutorial on the tissue paper pom poms :

Wow the ring is beautiful! Go for it girl! and What about him getting the plain band?(which is awesome too) if he likes the band that you guys picked out then get it! There is nothing that says that you have to have matching bands!!
Decorations- What about those oriental paper lanterns? the round ones? (http://asianideas.com/) or (http://www.asianideas.com/paperlanterns5.html) they have all sorts of idea and colors, and you don't have to light them, just hanging them looks really nice too (my friend did that last year it was really pretty) and they are pretty cheap! get steamers and just hang them in random places from the doors, windows etc etc
Food- ask everyone to bring a dish with them that always helps too
Colors- like you said do what ever you want, if you go with the laterns then pick a few colors (my friend had Pink, green, white) but who says you can't have 10 colors that you like?
Guys clothes- my friend that had the fairy tale wedding (the ones that i posted the pictures to you about-i think you can see the shirts in there) had the guys all wear black pants and a pirate shirt (simple plain colors, with a small tie on the front) or ever just a plain white button down is good too!
ok enough from me...i should be a wedding planner! LOL
Look what I found!!!I think its soo awesome! And it fits your fairy theme so much and you could do this easily yourself :
And this is totally cheap and looks great. You just get some wine glasses and tea candles and make the lamp shades from paper,it would be awesome.
*^.^* WOW!!! You guys have some AWESOME ideas!!! I thought my eyeballs were going to fall out, I was opening them so wide!!! I have to send my girls links to this page, now!!!! Sug, I'm all over your pictures! Is that last thing a necklace, or a decoration? Either way, I'm in love with it! My dress(which was free, unused by a friend who broke up w/her fiance before their wedding) is 100% silk, and came with this skinny shawl thingie, that so isn't my style, but I hate to waste it...I may just have to dye it and hang some funky charms on it like that!
I LOVE MY CUT OUT AND KEEP FRIENDS!!!!! Y'all really deliver when a friend is in need!!! I now feel refreshed, excited and ready to crack down on this thing!!! (I sure have used a lot of exclamation points)
I think the last part was a necklace but I was thinking it would be more of an awesome decoration or something Glad you love the pics, I am still hunting more stuff so If I find anymore you will get more pics!
Oh, and I love AALLLL the twig/wood stuff, so cool. And the JARS!!! Oh, and in answer to the ring thing, I tried to tell Daniel several times that his ring could be whatever he wanted, but he wants them to match(this is, after all his first!only! wedding/marriage), and I found these yesterday.

He likes them, too, and hey, they're $20 cheaper than the original set we wanted. I really wanted something that looks handmade, and antique at the same time, and there it is! We never fooled with the engagement ring thing(I'm dreadfully practical), but I'm thinking about asking if, maybe now, maybe later, after the wedding, we can order one of her little stacking rings, to wear next to it like an engagement/wedding ring set.

I am so doing a happy dance right now!!!
Damn Sug & Vi you both put me to shame....
Glad you got that brain movin on the ideas Sparrow!
You always have good ideas, too, Melissa!! You were very helpful, I promise! I can't wait to talk to my bridesmaids about the ideas I've gotten here!!!
Vi, I asked Daniel if his dad has the right kind of saw to make those cake stands, and he said, "Maybe. But if he doesn't, my cousin does." He liked them, too.
Awwww thanks, the rings are lovely...That's great about the cake stands, very pretty and simple!
Im so glad we could help!
I cant wait to see pictures of your awesome wedding!
