..confusion.. NO make that happiness :)

Okay look. i've never posted something before, so bear with me...but my friends aren't helping. So....there was a school dance last night and before then, my friends kept saying that they would try to get this one guy to dance with me. i kept telling them not too, because i didnt want him to feel pressured. but since they kept saying that he was going to dance with me, so I started to think that he was going to...well, he didn't. and i'm not sure if i regret their not asking, or what. So, i guess i'm confused. If this helps with replying...he knows i like him and he goes to a different school, and he's a grade younger. {haha} I don't know if i need advice or anything, but i felt the need to rant and that's what this is for. I may need to post something else about another guy. so frustrating. ugh. YET another thing:: there was a dance on my bday last year. no one acknowleges it. the dance that was yesterday was my friend's birthday too. of course, they wish her a happy birthday over the microphone. ugh.

This is kinda like you're talking about my life story here, with the kinda nt being noticed thing by them not acknowledging your birthday at he dance last time but they did for someone else ysturday!! But it happens so I wouldn't dwell on it too much...

As for the situation with this guy... I would ask your friends if they actually asked this guy to dance with you or not just so you know where you stand. I know it seems the safer option when you fancy a guy to get your friends to talk to him but from my experience this situation tends to complicate things. As nerve wracking as it may seem it may have been better for you to ask him to dance yourself. But that's in the past. Thebest thing for you to do is to build up your self-confidence, it seems to be a big winner withe guys. I know it's easier said than done, but if you work up your confidence and you ask him out or whatever the worst he's going to say is no. To people with low self confidence it's a terrible thought of someone saying no because it knocks their self-eseem, but with a strengthened one it won't phase you as much

I agree with Sheila, if you want to meet up with him then ask if he wants to go for a coffee or someplace to eat. Unless you get to find out what he likes, for example if you find out he likes movies you could ask him if he wants to see a film... etc

I hope this makes some sense

Hi Rachel. I agree with Becky. Iwould ask your friends if they talked to him and I would talk directly to the guy and get to know him without the pressure of friends being around and having to 'perform' at a dance. That way if you like each other you will be able to be yourselves without giggly girl friends around. This is a no no for lads. They run a mile when they have a bunch of girls to deal with.

I was the only girl in a motor cycle group and the lads treated me like a lad. We used to spend time making our bikes work better in my garage. They never saw me as a 'threat' because I was an equal. They said that they didn't understand girls and use to ask me for advice! Great when I was covered in oil. What I'm trying to say here is blokes have just as much insecurities as us girls so try to find common ground maybe ask if you could meet for pizza, chips, coffee. Everyone has to eat and a every day place means you both can walk away after with no time pressures.
Hope this makes sense Happy

Its apparently the most viewed thread at the mo so I'm guessing that people (like me) liked what Sheila and Becs said so much that they couldn't add anything more. Update us all on how you get on. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I met someone when I was 21 who I'd liked when I was 15. I was convinced he didn't even know I existed when we were at school. It turned out it did. Unfortunately when we did meet (when I was 21) we lived at opposite ends of the country and the feelings I had at 15 weren't the same and we were both in the midst of uni courses but it just goes to show that you can be absolutely certain you know what another person thinks of you and get it wrong. I hope that made sense.

Just remember, you're still a kid. (sort of, whether you like it or not) ;)
If I ended up with the guy I had a crush on in high school...God, I don't even want to think about how ridiculous that would be! There will be plenty of time to make friends with guys. But don't try to rush the "boyfriend" status. YOU ARE A PRIZE. You don't need to chase after guys. The right one will come to you. ;) And if the one you "think" you want doesn't come around...then his loss. ;)

About your friend's birthday announcement? I bet she went around and made it very clear to everyone that it was her birthday. Kudo's to you for not being an attention whore on your birthday. Tongue

Hi Rachel. I agree with Becs. Making friends with him will let you both get to know each other without the pressures of the 'girl friend' 'boyfriend' thing especially as he is shy. Enjoy yourself, you have a whole life ahead of you Happy
