Best cheap podcast tool?

A friend of mine has a cool digital audio recorder (about the size of a cell phone) which she uses to record interviews and public talks and post them on the net. It got me thinking that podcasting must be getting a lot easier and inexpensive these days. But what's the best/cheapest/easiest gadget to get the job done?

Hmm, sometimes I use my microphones from my SingStar game (I know you can buy identical ones in PoundLand), but I tend to just use the internal mic on my Mac.
