ooo puurdy!

I want something antique or antique looking, silver or platinum, filigree and lots of sparkles but not too over the top; sometimes there can be a lot in small quantities or just lots and it still looks simple and classy. I don't think I'd want diamonds either I'd have sapphire, pink saphire or amyethst. I'd even go for the gem stone tigers eye if it looked right and if it was possible, my boyfriends eyes are like tigers eye Happy I love celtic knots and things too.

infact if we do get married I'd have a bit of a celtic thing going on, I'd have a bouquet that looked like wild flowers, or I could even make it myself from real wild flowers lol no war paint of course

I'd get a white gold wedding ring - it's traditional to get gold but I don't like it, so if I get white gold it'll LOOK like silver but still technically be gold =)

I would want an emerald ring with white gold, traditionally emeralds were given at a wedding instead of diamonds. It is thought that emeralds actually reveal the true intentions of a lover. Happy Plus its my birthstone Happy I would love to have one done from someone on etsy too!! And the one that you showed is super pretty Stephie. And Knittin, totally agree with you on the white gold...lol, gold looks bad with my skin tone.

Tigers eye would look really nice actually queenfairypants, I love the idea of using something other than a diamond. Make sure to get the hint on though, lol... my boyfriend's sister already knows what I want....just in case ;)

i told him he doesn't have to propose with a ring, as i'd like to pick my own lol he knows what I like very much though, i felt really bad when I said I wanted to pick my own but hes not even proposed...yet...so lol at least he knows, it probably wont be very formal with the down on one knee thing either, which i don't mind. I think I'm going to be the one proposing lol!

I just dont want yellow gold and don't really want a diamond either!

i want a silver one, i like silver much better than gold. and i don't want a diamond, unless i know for sure it isn't a blood diamond. i would actually prefer an onyx.

i doubt any of these things are mined with ethical policies in mind to be honest..goes for, everything.

You have to look into where the gemstones were mined, Canadian diamonds for instance are mined with ethical policies and by experienced, well paid miners. Australia mines sapphires, again ethically. It is completely possible to get ethically mined gemstones, but you will likely pay more and you will have to do your research... I would never recommend going to people's jewellers or other such large retailers because they are looking at price point and how to get the most bang for their buck. But, if you are going through independant artisans they are often more aware of where their gemstones are coming from, and the consumer can ask a lot more questions.

It is up to the consumer to find out whether or not the gemstones are ethical or not.

On another note, totally found an engagement ring on etsy that I love...lol, now I just need to save the picture and hint at the boy Tongue
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24505557 Not sure if I love the fact that it is a colombian emerald, there is a lot of emerald poaching from this area, and I doubt they are mined ethically. Happy But it is the style I like, so I can always get something similar elsewhere.

Whenever my boyfriend and I feel ready to be legally recognized as a couple, I'd like to just get rings tattooed on our fingers. That way, we'll never lose them, and it'd be less expensive than a diamond or gold. I'd also want it to be something really simple - like a plain black band around my ring finger. For the actual wedding, I'd want to wear a blue and white knee-length dress with a corset and some blue or white flats. My man would wear a white shirt, gray tuxedo and a blue vest without a tie. The ceremony would be secular, and we would write our own vows. Our first dance as man and wife would be Born to Love You by Queen.

As you can tell, I've thought about this a lot. Sorry to get a bit off-topic...

Thats a cool idea of getting rings tattooed, and that way you don't have to worry about blood diamonds and all that.

I wouldnt get it tattooed...I've been surrounded by divorce! Obviously marraige is a vow and a promise but I really do think that you just don't know what will happen. I don't really like the way tattooed rings look either personally, i'd have a different tattoo somewhere else, I'd get a circle with little flowers and leaves around it or something to do with forever, but each to their own obviously!
