red hair
Black will turn orange with one box of bleach, which is fine if you are doing a fire engine red. Loreal colors are more natural looking than brighter brands like Manic Panic. In my experience, Loreal colors aren't that great if you want something super bright.
The Manic Panic wouldn't stay in as well if you put it on over another color. Loreal reds tend to fade pretty quickly into bluish pinks or strawberry blonde colors.
I use the loreal hi color, for both blonde and red. I've used the red and the magenta. The magenta came out brighter, and they last a long while, however my hair has this weird attitude with red color to where it eventually becomes blonde, so that's why at the moment I have my hair died blonde.
I naturally have very dark brown hair and the red worked fine for me, however it isn't one flat red color like the one in the image, there are different tones... or maybe that just may hair...
Sorry if I can't be much help.
I have used Manic Panic, but mostly their greens and blues. They last a while if you put them in properly.
You can get it to last longest by combing it through until it gets foamy, then blow-dry it on hot. Leave it in for at least 2 hours and the color should last 3-5 weeks before the fading becomes noticeable.
Manic Panic Pillarbox red is my fav color. It is the brightest red they have, (the 2nd close being "wildfire", but it's slightly more orangey then Pillarbox). The more bleached hair you have, the brighter manic panics turn out in my opinion. I have really thick dark brown hair, & it stayed in for about a month 1/2 ...but I don't wash my hair often.
Directions by la riche, is the best wild colors dye to use ..but you can't get it in America.( Just on eBay) its brighter & last longer then manic panic & cost bout the same.
I've never used the Loreal your asking of. But I've seen it work really well for people on YouTube. Lol I actually watched a really good video while ago about it (can't find it now) ...the girl used loreal hi color, & red tinted shampoo/conditioner to maintain it. & it never fades she said. It was probably just the red shampoo keepin it tho.
Ion Brilliance is good as well. Most Sally Beauty stores have it. I've found with reds that if you have very light hair, they are more likely to fade into pinkish hues. I've experienced this with every red I have tried. When your hair is left at an orange color, the red will fade to a more orangey color than pink.
It looks great on you! Wow that was a bargain price too. Lol lucky. :p
