So like, being quite the lurker and all,
I decided to post in the forums.
D':
ehhh.
uhm.
OKAY,
so I'm cleaning my room right now.
And it's honestly very hard for me to keep my room clean/organized.
(I don't know why.)
Well, how's everyone's Easter, so far?
My weekend's been a bore.
i spent most of my weekend, cleaning, cooking, and making easter eggies.
o:
My family never really celebrates anything.
I think we're too asian sometimes.
My parents are Jewish, my boyfriend is atheist. I just love cooking, and dying eggs. Its sooo much fun.
-has yet to experience egg dying.
:\
oh that sucks!! you should go by some eggs, some food coloring, and some vinger and dye eggs.
My dad came in the room yesterday and went "I don't think Jenny should get any eggs because she's not Christian"
You don't really have to be Christian. And I love excuses to cook haha! I'm gonna cook today because it's my drama assessment tomorrow.
We don't celebrate easter (and all other holidays) as a religious thing ... it's just eggs, sweets and presents tomorrow I will make egg salad/spread so I don't have to throw the ridiculous amount of colored eggs in the bin.
This is my last day as Christian and I am quite excited about it haha
Your last day as a Christian?
I will withdraw my membership tomorrow, I'm not willing to pay church tax just for being officially a catholic.
Oh that's crazy. My German friends told me about that state tax thing. madness
D: i don't know,
my family's not too keen on celebrating much,
so,
probably due to conditioning and stuff,
i just...
don't care for holidays, either.
;xxx
That's so stupid! You have to be pay to be a certain religion?
Ridicularse!
Yes it is insane! In Germany it is a real tax, everyone has to pay it (no matter which religion they belong to or if they are atheist), in Austria members of the catholic church have to pay church dues - like membership in a fitness club (though in fitness clubs you can choose as an adult if you would like to join). So in Austria you can cancel that membership, which means you don't have to pay your church dues (around 100€ per year in my case, percentage of income) But you are still catholic for the church because you can't reverse the act of baptism. As a matter of fact: they don't accept your decision and canceling the membership brings you officially and directly to hell.
Here is more information on that topic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_tax
I don't want this to end in an religious discussion, of course I don't want anybody to be offended - so don't be ;) I just thought the different religious aspects/financing methods in other countries may be interesting for some of you!
hello Shokoraaa!
omg that is ridicularse (haha arse)!
Easter is really just for kids now, I suppose if I was religous I'd think more about Jesus and stuff but I'm not so. Apparently in Germany they celebrate Easter like Christmas, and more so. I wonder why xmas is more celebrated, Jesus was born on xmas (supposedly) but didn't have to do much Mary and Joseph did all the work haha. For some reason I really like the whole symbolism thing about Mary, maybe it's the innocent thing, like she was just very pure. I got rosery beads in Italy just because they were very pretty and I saw ones with Mary on them so bought them and then learnt that the Florence cathedral is all about Mary.
Does anyone know where this egg thing came about? I suppose March/April is the beginning of Spring so you'd get baby animals, so maybe thats what the egg represents.
