Too Much Stuff!
Siobhan - we've got a bit of a book addiction going on too. We just keep picking up cheap bookshelves second hand and then in no time its full. I've also got a terrible bead habit, have done for years. I'm such a magpie though - if its small and shiny I want it. My thing with charity shops also extends to buying up odd bits of wool, stamps, old jewellery with cool beads - you name it, if its pretty I can think of a hundred and one new uses. Unfortunately I don't seem to have the time to make the 101 things I think off so it all just sits in little piles and boxes waiting to be used.
OK so I've been away but i so know where you guys are at.I've decided no more stuff but found my self unable to recycle the Grand Teton paper grocery bag cos I like the logo (front cover for a new little book) I still have the beads that we brought a Freemont market laid out on a cushion waiting for deconstruction.Oh and I put my books for altering together and found that I'd got to 10 ! Just don't talk to me about craft books that cost less than a latte.
Be proud of me my fellow horders, just yesterday I got rid of a big box full of books (this was a huge wrench for me, sort of like having an arm cut off), and I managed to create a new craft item/gift for my cousin out of some of the stuff I've been holding onto cos it might come in handy one day (I made a dream catcher from an old neck bangle (it;s like a silver arm bangle but goes around the neck),a length of ribbon, some odd donkey beads and a pack of feathers that someone gave me and I never used, I even had enough feathers left to decorate an old paper bag as a gift bag to match. My cousin was thrilled, as all her friends are paying at least £12-£15 each for dreamcatchers at the moment, because Bella has one in eclipse they HAVE to have one.lol.
oh and string.
Ugh I have way too much stuff, too!! Last night I stayed up all night and threw away 3 trash bags full of crap that was just laying around collecting dust.
Oh geez. Dont get me started.
I dont throw things out. Actually, everytime I clean my room I throw out a bag.. but I never seem to have any less stuff. My room is full of useless junk, also my other desk and the dining table, but I'm a floor crafter. I cant sew at a desk, thats just so wrong. hahahaha. I keep anything that could be useful one day and still i bug my bro to give me stuff. :] I only have one craft box though, but Id love a room, oh and I have a sewing box, and two bead boxes.. hmmm.. oh and mums collection of craft stuff.
I started out crafting when I lived in a tiny little flat, I had a table in the living room which became piled with crafty stuff. Then I bought a big house and had my own craft room, after only a couple of months of living there, the whole room was full to bursting with craft stuff, it's like it expands into whatever space you give it!! I've now also got several boxes in the living room with knitting and sewing projects in. Unfortunately, a year after we started, we still haven't finished decorating the dining room, so no dining room table for me!

Melvin - no kidding! even after throwing out 3 bags I still have tons and tons of stuff in my closet and some under my bed...I just got rid of my other set of craft drawers, actually! it was just taking up space and I never used it
Soooo true about your stash expanding to fit whatever space you have, that made me smile!
Isaw a picture on the web of a crafters attic, her husband had rigged up some storage pockets for scrapbooking papers to the ceiling, it was a very creative use of space, one which i might adapt for my cupboard doors, does anyone have any ideas of how to recycle magazines into storage (apart from papier mache that is).
I'm like most on here. I have way too much craft stuff, but yet it never seems like enough. We have an extra room in our home, at one time it was just dedicated to my hubby's exercise equipment, but I have now taken over and turn it into my craft room. After sharing with me for a little, he got rid of his exercise equipment and decided a gym membership was better for him, so the room became mine
I have 5 tall pantry cupboards that now line one wall that has the majority of my craft supplies. I two large bins that hold my fabric, but I think I need another since they don't really close. I have an oversize tackle box to hold my beading supplies, but had to get another container to hold it all. I have my sewing table, with the drawers all filled with supplies. I do have a few book cases, that have many craft and reference books on them along with other type of books, but I still don't seem to have enough shape. I went through my craft stuff last month and did get rid of same stuff, but it didn't help.
I often joke to my husband that some of the bookcases with the books need to move out to make more room for my crafts, he always gives me the strangest look when I say it, so for now they will stay.
Essex Debs - tell me about it. I don't really have any crafting books but I still have all of my University text books. I've got about 9 or 10 of them. The cost me between £30 - £70 per book they are so expensive. I calculated that I could get about £300 ish for the sale of all my Uni books!!
I never want to hear about any books that cost me more then £5 EVER AGAIN!!
OOOH I never even conxidered the amount of cash I've spent on my books, I could be a millionaire. lol that's scary
Siobhan - LOL it's not worth thinking about is it? I've got to sell some stuff, otherwise I'll be screwed!!
