My new website
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has feedback on my new shophandmade site...here is the link.......
http://www.shophandmade.com/Store/Quietlion
I haven't been selling anything on my Etsy site and haven't sold anything here either and was wondering if anyone had feedback to make the store better? Thanxxxxxxxxx!
Your shop looks good to me. You've priced everything really well too. I hate when you go to a crafter's site and they have something simple for 50 bucks. I"m like, really? I'll just make it myself! Ha!
I especially love this one: http://www.shophandmade.com/Item/6-758-H63F5HX
I also like how you have a ton of different items and styles. I could never get my Etsy going because I hoard everything I make, or either give it away for free! I hate putting a price on things. It makes me feel like a jerk. (I had my circle skirt listed once for 35 bucks because my husband told me to put it up for that much. I felt horrible for charging that much, so I used the excuse of it not selling to wear it for myself.) lol
Oh, I meant to say, I like the way you've got a lot of different styles. Something to please everyone. It's late and I got a little off subject for a minute there. haha
Anyways, wishing you the best of luck. You've got a lot of hard work invested in this.
Ok..I just had to go back and buy those earrings. So...sucks to be you if you just read this, checked out the link, then wanted them for yourself!
(unless, of course, she made more than one pair) ;)
I agree with Dessah, everything looks good...the pix, pricing all good. The disadvantage to these shops is that you have to advertise it yourself. Just because you have nice things to sell, doesn't mean that everybody knows about it. You have to tell any and everybody you can think of, family, friends, co-workers etc., pass out business cards and/or put up fliers.
I agree with Dessah and Creatives comments - your stuff is lovely and not overpriced. The pics are also lovely and colourful and I love your logo. Do you have a flickr account? That can be quite a good way of showing off your stuff without feeling 'in your face'. If you're not familiar with it its a photography site - you can set up an account for free and you upload your pics. You can join groups and post pics in the group gallery and people can leave comments and favourite your pics. I find it good for testing the waters with a new idea as it shows you the stats of how many times your pics been looked at. You can also look at others stuff to get inspired. I put a link to my shop in the description. I figure if people like my stuff and are interesting in looking at my shop they can but if they don't then I'm not ramming it down their throats
Another place that maybe worth setting up an account and its free is Deviantart.com - its an art site but there is the option of uploading pics of creations like handmade jewellery - you post it in the group artisan crafts. Several CO&K ladies are on there too. If people like you stuff then they can comment and favourite your pics and become a watcher (so they get updates when you upload more pics). These are just thoughts but they are free so I figure you have nothing to loose. Also twitter is another free way of marketing yourself. I would recommend with Twitter that you mix up updates to include a few none sales ones - that way people are more likely to follow you. I've noticed if you keep it all sales and marketing then people tend to treat it as spam.
Hope those ideas help.
P.S I've book marked your shop so I can go back after payday
OMG guys thanks so much for the feedback. You guys are awesome, and respond/care about what I have to say sometimes more than my own friends!!! It's great to actually hear positive encouragement once and a while!!
Dessah: Me too, I hated charging people for my stuff and my mom (like your husband) constantly argued with me, telling me that people pay that much for stuff made in huge factories so I could charge for my handmade stuff!
Thanks so much for buying those earrings.....I packaged them up today and will ship them on Monday, you are the best!!
Creativemind:Thanks for the suggestions, I will try to do so!
ArtyKitKat: No, I do not have a flickr or Deviantart account................I will investigate those sites, and see what happens. Thanks so much for the info! And also, thanks so much for bookmarking my shop!!!
***Do any of you guys have shops that I can bookmark as well? I want to return the favor!
I've just set myself up an account and your shop is the featured shop!
I noticed you don't ship outside USA which is a shame as I'm in the UK - I'll have to admire from a distance Good luck though
I am not sure how to ship to other countries.....is it real expensive?
small jewellery items don't seem to be. I normally wrap them in some tissue paper and then use a normal envelope with a bit of cellotape to make sure the tab stays down.
No problem, I will book mark it too. It would be cool if you could get a button for it so I can post it on my blog where I have other crafters posted. It's like a pic of your banner or whatever of your shop that you can click on to get to your shop. We have a board entry for it, heres the link to show you what I'm talking about.

We all have posted each others buttons on our blogs to help each other out, which is another good avenue to try for advertising. You can post your crafts or whatever you choose to blog about there and post when you're possibly having a sale or give-away in your shop.
Ok, thanks for the info; I'll work on it this week!
My pretty-pretty earrings! They look so good! I was really surprised at the quality of them! each little flower is a perfect match to the flowers on the other earring.
I'm really impressed! You rock at this Allison!
Oh, and the package was so nice and professional looking. I like that you made your own little card to hook the earrings to, and your box was cute with professional looking business card and sticker! I'm so excited for you! I hope you do really well on Etsy! It's clear you put a lot of time and effort into your shop.

PS. I got these at the end of the day.
So, ignore the fact that I look a mess. Oh, and I just happened to be wearing purple that day too, so I automatically matched!
