Christmas Traditions
Every Christmas Eve, my family cooks a traditional, Italian, 7 fish dinner, and we light our advent wreath. On Christmas morning my mom makes gooey cinnamon rolls, then later we eat manicotti, anginettes (Italian cookies), and cheese cake with black coffee. Food is spells out tradition at our house.
How do you celebrate the holidays?
We smoke a Turkey, Put all of our Christmas cards in the tree for eachother to find, and we also gather round the christmas tree with a video recorder recording us singing "We wish you a merry christmas". We do this every year! This year we all wore onesies!!!
Oh, I miss the toddler days of onesies. Aren't the best presents the ones you have to find? A friend of mine hides mini candy canes in here tree and we have to find them when we go over.
the only tradition my family has is the german xmas cake
lots of alcohol ;)
My dad's side of the family is mostly German, so at Christmas we'd have the German pickle ornament.
For those of you that don't know about the pickle ornament: you hide it somewhere inside the tree, and then on Christmas eve, the lucky kid who finds it gets to open a special present before they go to bed that night. ^_^
My families traditions seem to be dying out, so next year, we're going to invent some new ones. Any ideas?
...Any German in your family?
Also, try this: http://www.christmas-corner.com/
I am gaining a reputation as a links master, methinks. ^_^
Only one we really have is Put tree up b4 sons b-day (Dec 6th)
Oh and make Jeff(Hubby)Suffer by watching Christmas Story 24 Hours straight rofl
My latest tradition is to buy a present for one of those wishing trees which goes to poor children. I got a present for a little girl this year. We also usually smash a pinata on Christmas day at our friends house and on Christmas Eve we go round looking at all the xmas tree lights. One of the xmas lights competition winners lives right near us so it's chockers on xmas eve there.
My family? No German, but my Grandad's Russian.
I guess we do have one tradition. We get to open one present each on Christmas Eve, my Dad claims it's a Canadian tradition (he's Canadian) but he may have just made that up so he could open a present early.
My boyfriend made us do that this year. in our travelodge. Not that it's a tradition he holds or anyhing, he just wanted an early present. I had some sweets to give to him but I wanted to give them to him on christmas morning, because they were in a stocking shape selection box, so I had to find something else to give him, and I wanted to give him something that was a surprise SO i gave him one of the best presents, which was a messenger bag with a felt candylion on it.
and then he just gave me sweets. i was so annoyed.
and then he couldn't sleep because he was too excited. and at seven o clock he was like "LET'S OPEN THE PRESENTS!"
he's 22 years old.
Aww, that's funny that he was so excited, I wish everyone was like that rather than sleeping until lunchtime on Christmas day.
Good lord I'd never do that! No I'm up always by at least 8. I'm just not so mad on present opening, I just like the whole shabang.
I'm really bad about presents I get excited about recieving AND giving.
On xmas day we get up, not too early not too late, open presents, then my mum cooks xmas dinner the usual type even though I became a vegetarian this year so I had a nut roast, it was horrible I should have just had quorn fillets! and then after that we just watch tv and films and look at the presents then have like an indoor picnic at tea time and then watch more tv haha
