Help on a sewing project...
I'm working on this and have run into a funny little issue. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what to do...
My post on the project "This may seem like a silly question, I just need this to come out as great as possible first time around, so I want to ask.
After pinning the lace down, is that when you sew the lace (or trim for my sake) and then ruffle or do you sew it on later? I just can't find in the steps where you hem the ends of the ruffles and trim... Obviously the base skirt at the end but what about the others? =\"

Hi Lacey. Hem the fabric first with a small hem or use an overlocker or zig zag the edge.
It's easier to sew the lace on before you do the ruffles.
It is too fiddly to try to sew lace on ruffled (gathered) fabric as it will not sit flat.
If you want the lace to be more ruffled gather it before adding to the fabric.
Hope this helps
Thank you very much, thats what I ended up doing. I just couldn't figure out why it wasn't in the steps... I'm pretty noob at a sewing machine and complex projects like this so I wanted to make sure. It also turned out that because of the trim (instead of lace) that I'm using I ended up with about 3 inches extra trim on each ruffle, lol
fun time trying new patterns
Thanks again, I really appreciate your help.
I am 3 weeks into a sewing course and bought my first machine late yesterday, now I'm threading it up and I've wound the bobbin, when I start to sewing the thread jams up under the foot, I think its a bobbin problem, any advice please? Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Lacey! xx
Secret Squirrel is it a drop in bobbin or one that has to be put into a case? If it's drop in, then there should be a knob for adjusting the bobbin tension, but if it's in a case, then there is a little screw on the side of the case that you can turn to adjust the tension.
Try putting the bobbin in the other way. Most bobbin holders have a slit in them which the thread goes through so check if it is tight enough as Creative said. Use a piece of mid weight cotton fabric for testing the stitch.
Oh yeah that too Sheila. Make sure the thread is even going through that little slit so that's coming out of the hole on the bobbin case.
Thanks sooo much! Bobbin was in the wrong way! x
