craft business license?

im parting with the site i use to have my store on, and im getting ready to put it up on another. but while researching different things ive realized i might be selling illegally?!?! uh-oh!!!

im only selling online really, and from home for family and friends. do i still need to register my business name? and moving into college soon in a different county, do i register it with that county? or the county im currently residing in?

do i need an actually business or vendors license or something?

i sell things like jewelry, scarfs, bags, plushies, duct tape wallets, crocheted items and etc. so what kind of taxes should i be including in their price? and will i have to figure out different sales tax for every customer depending on what state they live in?

im sorry if i sound extremely un intelligent on this matter...im just really confused! please help! lol Happy!

I think you would only need a license if you were actually manufacturing and making a lot of sales from home. Like if you have a room setup specifically for that and nothing else, and you get have a lot traffic for sales. I don't think family and friends would be enough to have to get one, but if you had customers or regular clients. I'm just not sure, you can call your local county courthouse for the right dept. for this particular question, just don't tell them you already got something started. Just ask about the guidelines when it is required that you have a license to sale and add tax.

As far as online, the site will tell you if you needed one, but I very seriously doubt everyone selling online has one, I don't.

I wouldn't imagine that you need a license, particularly making the occasional peice here and there. If you had lots of manufacturing and stuff. It definatly depends on the country you are moving to, because one country might have one set of laws on this situation and another country might go about it a different way.

Where are you moving to?
