Decoupage, which varnish to buy?

I so badly want to decoupage a couple bits and peices. I've got my old magazines/books/maps
my PVA glue
but what kind of Varnish should I buy seal it up so I can put a mug of coffee on my furniture with out getting a panic attack!?

Instead of giving me brand name, what kind of specfication I should look for?

I would recommend getting something waterproof and doing a few coats of it. If you are decoupaging smaller tables, certain craft stores sell cut and sanded pieces of glass meant for tabletops that would definitely protect your decoupage work.

After a marathon of google searching I finally brought some regular varnish and put two coats on. Fingers crossed!
