Wedding Shoes project

Hey guys!

I'm going to start working on a project soon. I'm on a mission to make a replica of these cute shoes I found on Etsy. (they were $1,000)

Add my blog if you want to experience this adventure with me and if not I'll post the finished project on here afterwards.

I also can use any ideas or help so feel free to throw anything at me. Thanks!

Hi Kira. If I was thinking of doing these keep away from kids, cats and give yourself loads of space and time...Lol

More seriously though......You could start by making a pattern in paper.

You would only have to make one which can be flipped for the other shoe.

A pattern would be open on the back seam and be a 'U' shape.

You can then lay out your rhinestones to get the best design.

The most detail is on the front and the outer edge of the shoes.
It's best not to have very big rhinestones on the inner edge as that is the area were you will put your feet together and would catch on stockings if you cross your legs.

You may find it easier if you use a fine gauze fabric with some stiffness to put the rhinestones on first. That way you can work out a design you like and repeat it so your shoes match. Then you can sew them in place. Sewing onto a fine gauze first will make the rhinestones more secure.

Then you could use a small amount of glue to fix the whole sheet of rhinestones to the shoes.

The gauze edges could be left a bit longer for you to neatly fold under. It may be neater to sew the edge where you foot goes into the shoe.

When I have repaired shoes I have taken the edging off, done the repair and then sewn it back in place. If you get some shoes with piping around the top it may be a neater finish.

Hope this helps Happy

Ps.....don't use super glue for any rhinestones that you stick on as it can dull them. I use a clear drying glue for gemstones. Most craft shops sell this kind.

Those look sooo fantastic, I can't wait to see the finished product!! If it were me, I'd get all your gems together and stick them to both shoes with double sided tape so that you can get the placement and spacing just the way you like it, so don't use super sticky tape just the stuff at the dollar store. Then use a strong glue, like shoe goo suggested by a commenter on your blog and glue each gem one by one!! Good luck and have tons of fun!

I appreciate everyones help!

Right now I'm in the process of finding the perfect pair of shoes to pull this off. Plus in order for me to wear them the heels cant be too high, I wouldn't be able to walk!
