It's modified from a pattern for a 1950s cocktail dress!

And yeah I do get marked on it. I was marked a few weeks ago and I got a B so I hope the extra work I put in gets it pushed up.

In art subjects I send myself mad if I don't get an A. I know that sounds bad but I mean, I want to be good at someting, and I'm not any good at much else.

It started back in the days of the Art GCSE, when my art teacher constantly bullied me and picked on me because I was the only person in the class who would challenge her ridiculous deadlines and assignments, and she used to always make points of me in the class and she'd always suggest that I was awful, so after a while I didn't go to the lessons much but did a lot of work on my own, completely ignoring anything she'd said to me and just making stuff I was happy with. The proudest day of my life was when I went in to pick up my coursework after marking and she had to tell me that I'd got an A. She was sucking on incredibly sour grapes, it was fantastic. She'd also been told by the head of art to request that I do art at A Level. I of course ignored this request, but it was fun watching her spit the words out anyway.

So yeah, I made myself get an A just to spite her, and I'm going to continue doing so.

I've been lucky to have quite good art teachers all the way through apart from the one art teacher one year in high school. This year, education wise, has been the best year of my life and its only 5 months in, not even 1 if you want to get technical, but i mean the 'school' year. I'm doing a foundation course in art and design.

I worked so hard at A2 levels to get a high grade I got a B in one module and an A in another but only got a C over all, i told my current teacher this and he was like so angry about it lol. We have had 12 weeks of textiles and 3D (for 6 weeks) and then print and graphics (for the remaining 6 weeks) then we specialised im doing 3D but anyway in all these 'units' I only got a pass + which I didn't think was fair but apparently I'll bloom in my specialism, the teacher is really encouraging and he actually knows us!

I'm having my art foundation year interview next week!

i have no idea what to take in terms of portfolio, could you help me? My work is mostly textiles based, obviously.

i'm just bumping this up after that enormous influx of posts. i'd like my question answered! hehe x

But but but corsets are so pretty =(

Portfolio:

1. If you have any drawings shove all the best ones in.
2. Stuff with colour in.
3. And whatever sketchbooks you have that show progress and experiment.
4. And put every peice of good work you have in too and if you can't physically take it in then take a picture
5. Mount flat work (as in black or white peice of paper stuck on to the back of the peice just looks nicer with a bordery thing)

And be prepared to talk about the work.

I'm on the best foundation course in the UK which is highly surprising! But it's true, it's at a college that I've been at for 3 years now, but it's better than uni foundation courses!

If this foundation course is at a uni, well I don't know what they're like with interviewing at these places but when you go for a degree interview they play with your head so if they say something like 'why do you like this peice' don't say 'I like blue' and if they say 'whats the worse peice of work' don't say 'the worst peice of work iiis'...say 'my least successful peice of work is this because...'. But don't worry too much I don't think they mess with your head when interviewing for foundation courses. But remember CONFIDENCE, when you're an art student in an interview for uni they don't just look at your work.

where are you studying?

I'm applying for my local college one, so I don't think it should be too awful.

But they should help you! They should want you to get a portfolio together!!!

I'll tell you where I am in a messagey thing because I don't like putting stuff like that on the internet, we know from people that know other people on uni foundation courses that they aren't very good.

That is so beautiful/upsetting! Good for you for putting your own twist on the assignment, too.
