Never Worn Makeup
If you have good skin, don't use foundation. Foundation can look really bad if you haven't got the right colour or consistancy, natural skin looks alot better. You could use a little lip balm to make your lips smooth, and some eye makeup.
Well, honestly, my skin isn't as nice as it used to be. I have quite a few red spots etc that I would like to try and cover up. I'm going shopping Thursday to pick up a few things... figured mascara would be a good idea... what about eye shadows and lip sticks? Any suggestions for those? I did order the sample foundation pack from everyday minerals and I'll see how that looks. I really just need something light... I know my mom always looked like she was painting her face before she left. >_<
Best advice for shadows and lipsticks is to get a tinted lip gloss to start and an eye shadow that compliments your eyes. I can't tell for sure from your picture but it looks like you have blue eyes- blue eyes brighten with purple shaded eye shadows. When applying eyeshadow it's good to use a light shade like a pale pink or white on the inside corner of your eye and under the brow to make your eyes appear larger. I've read brown eye shadows go well for brown eyes but the luck of having brown eyes is that it's a neutral color and goes well with anything. Green eyes should use purple colors also.
My only tip is, less is more. Kind of a give-in, but sometimes people forget. Especially if you've never worn makeup before, start small, it eases the shock of looking different.
I only use eyeliner and occasional lipgloss. People often think I wear more than that, I think it has to do with how I apply it? It's easy to do, only takes about a minute every day, if that. It's a good every-day look.
The mascara actually made a lot bigger difference than I thought it would! And I found some pink tinted lip balm that looks great too... so I'm off to a good start I think! And since I never wear makeup it adds that extra bit of what I was hoping for for Christmas dinner tonight with my fiance's family. Hopefully I can go pick up some eyeshadow to mess with with my christmas money.
i only have one video up at the moment, but here is my youtube channel that i will do makeup tutorials on : http://www.youtube.com/user/makeupnhairgirl26?feature=mhsn another person on youtube u shud check out is beautycrush good luck
Once you start getting to know your way around make up http://www.youtube.com/user/MichellePhan has some great video tutorials. She's got dramatic to fun and natural, also some good tutorials on DIY face scrubs, and great ways to clean your brushes
@Michelle g. You look much younger than 30! You look like youre 17 in your picture!
start with the basic natural look stuff and a hint of lipstick in a slightly darker or brighter than your normal lip coulur gradually build up to more dramatic stuff. for a job iterview a hint of masara natural blush conceler and a lipstick i a shade of pink or red. black lipstick works if your really pale and browns and purples if you're darker skinned i gto a book called beauty rules by bobbi brown back when i was 13 and its amazing all these tips how to's and the regular shades for each skin type it's really thick and its hard cover but its worth it ive saved myself alot of time with some of those tips. If you ever find your self out without make up department store make u counters do free makeovers although they will try alot to sell you stuff they usually remember you wont buy after a few times and will ignore you unless you tip them a few dollars
kandeejohnson on YouTube has some great tips too!
For me, I am 21 and up until about a year ago I avoided make up - mainly because I sucked at doing it, and am not really one to keep trying when it came to things I had trouble with. My sister used makeup from when she was 15/16 onwards, so she was pretty helpful when it came to things.
My best advice, if you have reasonably good skin with just a bit of redness or spots, would be a really good liquid concealer and some finishing powder - you don't have to cover your whole face this way, and can concentrate on your areas you most want to cover.
If you do want a foundation, the best one I can recommend I don't think is available the world over, but if you can find something similar I'd recommend it. I live in New Zealand, and Shiseido makes a special line here called Moisture Mist, and their Beauty Cake is amazing. It comes in something like 20 shades, and the best thing about it is the way you use it. Using a damp/wet sponge, you rub it on the cake and then apply it to your face - the more wet the sponge is, the sheerer the coverage, so you can really control how much goes onto your face, which is great.
But yeah, mascara can be one of the best things in your makeup kit, since it opens your eyes and makes you look more awake!
