Getting rid of black hair?

A little while ago (months) I dyed my hair black, and Im wondering how to get rid of it?
I have a few centimetres of re-growth at the top and the rest of my hair is faded.. but I want to dye my hair again, but a lighter colour.. anyone know how to get rid of it?
I've already tried anti-dandruff shampoo

I bleached mine to get rid of it. It's either that or grow it out.

I have a habit of dying my hair in a vibrant color,then to the darkest black and then when two weeks pass I want light hair again...But I can only give advice that takes time.Wait for it to grow out at least half way and wash it more often then you would normally do.I tried bleaching black hair once,it was a total disaster.It got a really ugly orange color so I had to color it to red wich i hate on myself.
Currently I have black hair,but Im waiting for it to grow out.I would love my natural hair color back,but I know Im too addicted to hair colors and dont have the patience for it.

My mom died her hair with 3 different colors trying to get rid of a terrible red job gone orange and it worked pretty well. Not sure about black, but it's worth a try.

go to a beauty supply store and get yourself some color remover. you mix it together and it smells pretty awful, but its way more reliable than trying to bleach through the color, and it shouldnt really alter your natural color. depending on your hair, and how long you've had the black on there, it should lighten up a bit ( dont freak out if its a strange color!) or all the way back to your natural color. since youve had it on there for a while it might not change much, but its still better than trying to bleach it out. after you color remover you can see what level youre at and see how light you can go ( lighter color on top of dyed dark hair wont work...) or you can bleach it at that point to get it lighter, and then color it. but be gentle...

don't bleach! you may end up with really orange hair or get burned.

I just shampooed alot, although I didn't use permant hair dye. I used herbal essances that washes out after 30 shampoos

go to sallys or your nearest beauty supplies store and ask the sales people what you should use they will know and help you find the right products for the job always works 4 me

Aaah bleaching is fine. It just takes forever. I've been trying to get that damn black streak out of my hair for months - most of my hair is very light blonde, like almost white, but I have some streaks of yellow still
