My room is for Rachel Chu from Crazy Rich Asians. The style is a mix of fun and contemporary because Rachel is a free spirited and strong woman living in New York City. I love how the style is simple, chic, and with a pop of uniqueness here and there. The reading bench and the secret floating shelf is used not only to save space, but also to be functional. The decorations from the wreath to flowers and banner are just simple decorations to bring out the girly charm Rachel has. The side table, poof, and pom pom rug are for when Rachel has guests, so they have a place to set their food aside or sit and lay their feet down. The tray is when Rachel wants to cozy up in bed with a nice warm cup of tea or snacks with a good book. Lastly, the memo board is used to note ideas or hang decorations, just simple ways to spice up the room and feel personal and like home in a big city like New York. Overall I love how the style displays Rachel's open minded personality with a modern woman touch.

Ever since I was a little girl, I've been fascinated by The Muppets. I love the craftsmanship of all the puppets and their unique personalities, especially Miss Piggy. She is so over-the-top and dramatic; very much the opposite of me. With this room, I'm indulging my ultra-girly side to make it perfect for this diva. I've chosen soft fabrics, a glam mirror, lots of pink and a bit of gold. Plus, a few adorable plush doughnuts, because this lady loves her sweets!

've chosen things I would like to make for my own house. But only in my dreams, because my husband and i have very different tastes. Im all about colour and pattern and he isnt! I chose the crystal hanger because i love it and i do have things like this in my office/craft room. The boho ottoman is because my own is threadbare and needs to be replaced. The side tables would be perfect next to my armchair, which would be decorated with the cushions....again lots of colour and pattern. I bought some lovely carved oak dining chairs off Ebay but the have dull green velvet seats so I need to reupholster them. I am short so use a footdtool to reach high shelves al the time. The soap dish is for my husband to make. I bought him a carving and whittling set last Christmas and he's hardly used it! The desk organiser is for me. The fact that it has multiple layers is ideal because it gives more storage space and the thread organiser will stop my threads becoming tangled in my sewing box.

I am a lover of literary classics. Jane Austen is one of my most beloved authors. Her books are charming and witty. When I think of what her personal spaces would have looked like, I imagine them as being very romantic and fancy, full of floral whimsy and many books piled in baskets and stacked in misshapen piles. I picture a quaint room with dreamy character.

Frida Kahlo’s face is everywhere! We’ve all seen her adorned in flowers, unibrow and moustache on proud display in defiance of our Western ideals of femininity, but how many of us have ventured into her home to see how she lived? A virtual tour round Frida’s summer home, La Casa Azul (the Blue House), shows a riot of colour, pattern and natural woods. It’s a beautiful space and one I wanted to honour and add to. I think Frida would’ve loved the modern craft movement and, although we can see how her bedroom looked back in the 50s, this is how I imagine it might look today. I’ve included splashes of the vibrant colours Frida already has in her home, large blooms she decorated her hair with so why not her lampshades and, even a miniature marionette theatre because Frida used to make her own puppets as well as paint! Frida learned to paint from her bed and was often confined to it for months at a time so I’ve added a crochet quilt, comfy Mexican look cushion, vases for her paintbrushes and, a jewellery display. Frida had a beautiful view into her garden from her bed, so I couldn’t resist adding some mosaic pot plants. I love these warm, homely touches that evoke a sense of Mexico and La Casa Azul and hope Frida would have done too.

When Buddy The Elf came to New York City and joined his new family in their apartment, he filled it with Christmas spirit (and countless decorations) overnight. Buddy is a skilled papercrafter and easily filled a whole apartment (and department store, for that matter!) with cut-out snowflakes and paperchains. I like to think that he would have made these quilled snowflakes too, if he’d had more than just one night to do all the decorating. And, like all good elves, I bet Buddy would be able to make these origami Christmas trees too. If he needed some baubles to decorate the Christmas tree, he’d be able to make these paper ones in no time at all. Buddy could only use the things that the family already had in the home to make his decorations, so I think he would have made some star decorations from the supplies in his Dad’s office, such as scissors and rulers. Even some of the books from the publishing house that his Dad works for would get a festive makeover – and be turned into a Christmas tree to sit alongside a glowing paper village! The bathroom was another source of craft supplies – the loo roll centre could be used to make a star for the top of the tree. And the jigsaw puzzles in the home would all be missing a few pieces after Buddy used them to make decorations for the tree that looked like North Pole snowflakes. A few paper bags and some pegs were all Buddy needed to make a DIY advent calendar to count down the days until Santa came to visit. This snowball tree decoration is the perfect centrepiece for the kitchen table (where buddy usually covers spaghetti with syrup and chocolate!) and brings some twinkling festiveness into the dining area. Buddy doesn’t like his morning cup of coffee, but enjoyed it a lot more after adding syrup to “the world’s best cup of coffee” so I think he’d like this gingerbread latte recipe too.
