DIY The Party

Alice creates the perfect spa day for teachers going through the 2nd Quarter Slump for today's #DIYTheParty

Among teachers, there is a phenomenon called the 2nd Quarter Slump. All of the excitement of the beginning of the year and 1st Quarter have worn off, and it's a long haul from report cards to Thanksgiving Break. This DIY spa party is the perfect remedy for any sort of slump, and will leave you and your friends, teachers and non-teachers alike, feeling refreshed and ready to conquer 2nd Quarter!

Scarlet creates a masquerade party, perfect for New Year's Eve in today's #DIYTheParty

To someone who loves glitter as much as I do, New Years and Masquerade just seemed like the perfect combination. Guests would arrive glammed up and enjoy sparkling treats in the elegantly shimmering atmosphere as they awaited the midnight unmasking.

Markee recreates the gory style of a Club Kid themed monster party for this week's #DIYTheParty

I would love to go to a Club Kid themed party, as they are about decadence, fun, gore and dressing up in a creative way. Club Kids accepted people at the fringes of society, and they spent their nights looking fabulous. They challenged the status quo, and held a party where ever they could, whether it was a burger joint or subway.

Markee recreates a boozy office party from the TV show Mad Men.

I'd love it if my office threw a Mad Men themed party, it would be a chance to dress up in your office finery, and then let your hair down after hours. It would be a great way to find out about all of the office gossip, but make sure to go easy on the alcohol! Remember you have to work with these people in the daytime!

Emma recreates the style of a Victorian inspired steampunk tea party.

I would love to attend this party as I love steampunk and Victorian style and etiquette. I'm also a great tea lover, so I'd enjoy relaxing here with a lovely cup of tea and some delicious cakes and biscuits.

Markee recreates the enchanted ball from the movie Labyrinth.

I've been enchanted by the movie Labyrinth since I first saw it as an adolescent, especially the ball scene. I'd love to go to this party because it is so magical, beautiful, but also a bit dark. You could come as your favourite goblin, or throw on a prom dress, adorn a mask and hope to steal a dance with a King. Make sure to eat a peach on the way in, to leave all your worries at the door.

Markee recreates the style of an Americana road trip with everything you need for an On The Road inspired party!

I'd love to go to this party, because it's the next best thing to packing up your stuff, jumping in a car, and taking in the beautiful landscapes of America. Keeping in the spirit of Jack Kerouac this party intertwines music, poetry with the sense of an Americana road trip.

Mistress Nora of Madness recreates the colourful hippyish style of a boho party from the 60's.

The sixties was all about sharing and caring. Peace not War. Breaking out of the restrictive clothes and concepts of the 50's. No more doing what is expected of you. It was a time of thinking for yourself and standing up for what you thought was correct. Loving everyone=no matter. Loving Mother Earth and her resources.

Markee recreates one of Andy Warhol's arty star-filled parties at The Factory in New York.

I'd love to go to this party because The Factory combined pop culture, art, music, fashion, film, photography, performance art, and a cool and chic attitude. I would have loved to be alive when these parties were happening (and invited to one!), but at least I could have the next best thing through making a Factory themed party in my own or a friends' flat.

Markee recreates the glitz and glamour of the party from The Great Gatsby for our first ever DIY The Party!

I would love to attend this party because it looks so glam and opulent, it makes you want to throw on a set of pearls and become a vintage socialite.
