Hey not always works the heath by an inflammation so i have an other solution you can tell her for your gift:!!!
you can put the scarf in a plastic bag in the vreezer for an hour to ease the pain with cold as well.
then she can shoose what will help her more for easing the pain.
i have the other kind of artritis with out the inflammations but i have sometimes an inflammation by other normal things as well and then i need the cold.
hope it will help her, i uses them too for my neck to ease my migraine and to ease t he nervedamaging pain;-D
i like it very much that you will make them for her.

almost everybody of my friends has got some of mine.LOL

i prefer those heating pillows because the stands their scarps claws.LOL no more afraid of leaking hot water;-D
