When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
My parents are both amazing cooks so they encouraged my brother and I to learn how to cook at a very early age. I honestly can’t remember the first recipe I tried but I’m sure it was something sweet!
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
Our mid-century Florida home has a tiny galley kitchen with the original 60’s cabinets and GE oven and stove top! We updated to a stainless steel fridge and dishwasher shortly after we purchased the home 3 years ago. Since it’s so tiny, we try to keep everything really tidy. All the dishes and glassware is stacked and every cabinet is full!
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
It’s easy for people to be intimidated in the kitchen. Start we simple recipes that have few ingredients. Always follow the recipe exactly the first time then adjust according to your taste. It’s all about practice, too!
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
I’d host my two favorite bloggers, Elsie and Joy. I’ve been reading both their blogs since the start! I’d have a DIY cocktail bar with lots of fresh berries and then dinner would be tapas style and include a mix of latin, thai, and mediterranean-inspired dishes. We’d end the meal with a DIY mini-trifle spread. And yes, there would be pom pom topped toothpicks and striped paper straws.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I joke that I have too many hobbies because I have a passion for making things—cooking, crafting, design, drawing, painting, sewing, and recently wood working. I also love horseback riding and have owned my horse, Justin, for 13 years!
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Make lovely things! I believe simple handmade things bring so much joy to everyday!
