When did you first start knitting / crocheting and where did you learn?
My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 13 but I didn't learn to knit until I was in my 20's. I'm left handed and didn't know any left handed knitters so it required a lot of trial and error. I used books from the library and a little later started using youtube videos to learn.
Can you remember the first thing you made?
The very first thing I crocheted was a small granny square afghan for my cat to sleep on.
Who are your favourite pattern designers and celebrity knitters & crocheters?
I really enjoy using patterns by Jared Flood, Adrian Bizilia, Amy King, Stephen West, Anne Podlesak, and Natalia Moreva.
What are your favourite things to stitch and do you have a favorite item you've made?
My favourite things to make are hats, because they are relatively quick, fun, and it is fairly easy to use them for experimenting with new tricks and techniques. I also enjoy knitting lace shawls ... I knit them to relax.
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to stitch along to?
Indie and EDM are my favourite genres to listen to when I knit/spin but I also enjoy audio books and documentaries.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Other crafts that I enjoy are spinning, dyeing, and I am just starting out learning how to weave on my four shaft loom. I love to play with fiber and color. As far as hobbies go, I enjoy being outside, camping, hiking, snowshoeing, fire hooping, and yoga. We live in a very beautiful place so there is no shortage of natural scenery to tempt me away from spending time indoors.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I just wanted to thank you for having me here to participate in your Superstars project and I look forward to seeing what others feature and create here on Cut Out + Keep.
