When did you first start knitting / crocheting and where did you learn?
I first learned to knit when I was in my late teens. I was more interested in seeing at the time and couldn't really get a handle on knitting. It just wouldn't stick. I tried a few more times in my early and mid-twenties. Finally, about four years ago, it sunk in and I was addicted. I taught myself by borrowing one of those "knitting for dummies" books from my local library and watching countless YouTube videos. I started off with dishcloths since they weren't nearly as intimidating.
Can you remember the first thing you made?
Yes! It was a garter stitch cowl. It turned out to be a scarf, since I didn't know the the first thing about grafting seams together. It also didn't know anything about proper gauge or yarn weights, so it was terribly wonky.
Who are your favourite pattern designers and celebrity knitters & crocheters?
I love how Melody of Mandarines translates her love for nature into her patterns. And the perfect simplicity of the patterns by Deneise of cabinfour and Alicia Plummer.
What are your favourite things to stitch and do you have a favorite item you've made?
I really enjoy knitting shawls. And to choose a favorite handknit would be very difficult. Off the top of my head I might say the Farmhouse Shawl. It's a pattern by cabinfour. I equally enjoyed the process of making it and the finished product.
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to stitch along to?
I almost always listen to music when knitting. My taste varies greatly. Lately I've been enjoying 80s playlists on Spotify. As well as old Jazz and blues from the 20s.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I also sew, dye yarn, design patterns and am attempting to learn how to spin wool. i also enjoy gardening and raising chickens.
