"Wax coated"/leather look denim for next to nothing!
Have a pair of old black jeans that just don't do it for you anymore? The wax coated denim trend has been one of my favorites because you can take it to work with pumps and a tailored button down, to a festival with a bandeau and a bunch of jewelry, or to a metal concert! Whatever your heart desires. Unfortunately, waxed and leather look jeans are pricy. But here's a way to get it for next to nothing.

  • How to make jeans. "Wax Coated" Jeans - Step 1
    Step 1

Protect your work surface with newspaper or paper bags because it gets a little messy.
Lay your jeans out as flat as you can. Iron them to get them super flat if you desire though it's not necessary.
Mix 40% varnish to 60% black paint, mix thoroughly, and paint on with foam brush. Don't paint too thick nor too thin. Make sure to get in all seams and little puckered areas.
Let dry overnight and then wear!
They'll be a little stiff at first but that will go away after a wear or two. I personally like the feeling.
Spot wash with cold water by hand. Never machine wash.

When you say "gloss varnish" do you mean gloss wood varnish because it seems strange to put that on pants...

Gloss gel medium used for painting is the best. Otherwise a gloss modge podge will suffice.
