  • How to paint a painted skirt. Wave Skirt - Step 1
    Step 1

    For this project, you'll need:
    1. A skirt. (I made my own, but you can use a light colored one that's already made or follow your favorite simple skirt tutorial)
    2. Blue dye
    3. Blue Sharpies
    4. A bucket
    5. A hanger

    Step 2

Prepare about half your dye in a bucket, and arrange the hanger over it so you can keep part of the skirt out of the dye. This is essential for the ombre effect.

Dip the whole skirt in the dye first, until its whatever light shade of blue you like.

Now hang the skirt over the hanger, so that about half is in the dye. I added some more pigment at this point, too.
Once the bottom half is at a darker shade of blue, pull the skirt out even further and let the ends of the skirt get even darker.

Let your skirt dry and get ready to draw a wave pattern on it!
