When your jewellery box just can't take it any more, and you have some open wall-space
My jewellery box seemed to grow smaller as my collection of necklaces, home-made and bought, grew larger. So I decided to make a necklace holder I could hang at the backside of my door, where I conveniently had some leftover space. Please note that this necklace holder only works when the jewellery has clasps, or it would be difficult to take them down and actually wear them.

    Step 1

Cut a wooden rod to your desired lenght.

Mine is approximately 44 cm (about 17 inches).

Either leave it as it is, or paint it in a new colour/glue on a scrap bit of fabric.

I glued on some white fabric to match the rest of my room, and because it's quicker and easier than painting.

Now you can decorate the ends as you please. I added a cluster of different pearls and wire, by twirling the wire around the the rod and adding different pearls as I worked my way out to the end. Make sure you don't add pearls at the backside, where you will be sticking it to the wall.

    Repeat at the other end.

Finally, hang it up with Blue Tack or something similiar, and add your necklaces!
