• 

  Step 1

  Gather your materials! You will need:
  - White Pumpkins! Fake or real (if real paint white)
  - Acrylic paint
  - Decorative paper
  - Buttons
  - Fabric trim
  - Yarn
  - Scissors, tape, and glue gun

  Step 2

  Create neckwear for your pumpkins! This can be a ruff, collar, or ruffle. The pumpkin will just sit on top of these.

  I created a ruff two different ways. The first way was by cutting the paper into thin strips and looping them. I taped the loops around a circular piece of paper to fit under one of the pumpkins. I did two layers of paper loops.

  Step 3

  Another way to create a paper ruff is by folding long strips of paper into accordion pleats.

  Step 4

  You can also use pots to raise your pumpkins off the ground if you plan to create paper collars, bow ties, or ties for them.

  Step 5

  Create a paper hat for your pumpkin! You can use paper party hats and cover them in black or orange paper. You could also create your own fun paper hats like a mini top hat. Use buttons, pom poms, ribbon trim, any thing you have on hand, to decorate the hats!

  Step 6

  Paint faces onto the pumpkins! Using orange and black acrylic paints, paint vintage clown faces onto the pumpkins. You can look up vintage clowns online for inspiration. I penciled my faces in first, then went over it in paint.

  Step 7

  Your Vintage Clown Pumpkins are complete and ready for Halloween!
