Play dress up with your own personalized paper doll necklace!

For this week's Crafter To The Stars I'm making a paper doll necklace for crochet designer, Twinkie Chan!

    Step 1

    Start by picking a full heigh image of yourself and opening it in your favourite software editing program. I used Fireworks!

    Trace around the outline of your body with the lasso selector tool.

    Choose the Select Inverse option from the menu.

    And then select Delete to get rid of the background.

    Now we're going to draw around the outline of the body using the pen tool, leaving a small margin. Add a few paper doll style tabs along the way.

    When you're done, select the Basic Dash style for your outline.

    Your doll is ready. Now let's add some accessories.

    Take a photo of one of your accessories, chop out the background and scale to a size that matches your doll.

    Line the accessory over your doll and chop off anything that doesn't fit.

    I had to chop off the top of the scarf to give it a snug look around the neck.

    Keep going until you have a complete range of accessories.

    Print out your doll on to a magnetic sheet. I also included a little wardrobe to keep the spare accessories in. You can download my template above, if you'd like to use it.

    Start by cutting out your doll with a pair of scissors. Leave a small tab at the top.

    Punch a hole in to the tab at the top.

    Cover the back of the doll in glue and stick on to a piece of white felt.

    Cut out the doll and punch a hole through the felt to match the hole on the doll.

    Open a jump ring and slip through the hole.

    Slip on to a necklace chain and close the jump ring.

    Continue cutting out the accessories. You don't want to leave a white border on these and you won't be backing them with felt.

    Keep going, using the wardrobe to keep everything organized.

    Dress up your doll and wear with pride!
