Step 1
Smooth a small amount of styling cream containing heat protection through completely dry hair. Use your hands like a comb to evenly distribute the cream throughout your hair. Heat protection is essential with this look as you’re going to be using a lot of heat to get your hair poker straight.
-
Step 2
Decide on your parting and plot it in. There’s something very sweet and naive about straight hair with a centre parting while a side parting will make the final result edgier and more graphic.
-
Step 3
For poker-straight hair you need to make sure all your strands look uniform, and the easiest way to do this is to section your hair and straighten one area at a time. I suggest brushing your hair through and then dividing it into four sections from your crown down to the nape of your neck and from ear to ear. Keep each section out of the way with a clip.
-
Step 4
Now straighten. Pass your iron down each section from roots to tips while simultaneously combing your hair. This will give you a very thorough and precise finish.
-
Step 5
Once you have finished straightening use a touch more styling cream to ramp up the shine and smooth any flyaways that have appeared around your hairline.
