Sungmin's No Other balloon basket
I've noticed that a lot of Asian fanclubs, including ELF, have HUGE projects that are all really well done and absolutely AMAZING, but there are NONE on CO+K (that I could find, anyways), and only a few individual projects, most of them are computer graphics or drawings. So...a project started on Sept. 4, and ending.....much, much later...

This tutorial is only what I had planned to do, but I ended up improvising most of it depending on whatever the wire wanted to do. My camera died, so not as many pictures as the friendship bracelet tutorial

  • Step 1

Find a good picture of the baskets. I'm starting with a kinda blurry video of Sungmin's rectangle basket after a failure of making the round basket:(

I got my picture from a video:

    Step 2

Plan out the dimensions you want your basket. Because I wil be weaving wires, my base measurement would be the diagonal.

For one half of the basket:

    Diagonal base: 1.5 cm
Total length for height: 2.25 cm
Straight side of basket:aprox. 1.75 cm
    Slanted side of basket:approx. 0.5cm

Wire length for basket frame: a little over 6 cm

Times 2 because of twisting wire: 12 cm

  • Step 3

Start the frame of your baskets

Twist 2 wires together so they won't bend as much as you're weaving

Then cut 2 lengths of the wire that are your total length for one side

I now have two twisted strands of wire just slightly over 6 cm

    Step 4

Use a ruler and pliers and make the bends in the wire to check your dimensions

Use a permanant marker to mark where the joints (?) are.

    Repeat for other side

(*sigh* the best picture I could get of this step)

    Step 5

Use thread to make the base into an X shape

It doesn't seem to help much, but it does SOMEWHAT help

  • How to make a wire necklace. Super Junior Balloons Pendant - Step 6
    Step 6

    Start weaving in your wire

The sides may start coming unbent, but that's why you marked the bending points with marker

  • How to make a wire necklace. Super Junior Balloons Pendant - Step 7
    Step 7

    Try alternating your weaving

Put the wire across the inside of the basket and alternate for a more woven look

(My offcenter spidery-looking thing with one of its inspirations)

Try keeping the weave a square shape.

    Step 8

If it gets offcentered, weave until you reach the end of one point of the base, then only weave on the remainding points (the woven look is more clearer now). Weave until you completely finish the base. It should be a square shape.

Add 3 more double wires for support along 3 of the sides, or add 5 more, 2 on one of the sides with one on the other 3.

  • How to make a wire necklace. Super Junior Balloons Pendant - Step 9
    Step 9

Add a twisted wire around to make the base seem more squared shape

Start weaving up the sides. Whenever you go across the center, add some sparkly sappire blue seed beads for the confetti.

Continue until you reach the end of the straight side part.

    Step 11

Try leaving a small space for the handle of the basket. You can add it now and weave around it.

There are many ways you can add the handle but here's one way (not EXACTLY how I did it, but...easier to explain and make up variations from)

-Braid three or four strands of wire together, depending on how thick you want the handle.

-Keep the ends loose, and stuff in between the weaving at the part where the straight edges meet the slanted, adding beeds and twisting tightly to the other wires on the inside of the basket

-Leave a small space at the top center of the handle for the balloons

  • Step 12

Now start carefully weaving up the sides of the slanted part, making sure they stay in the shape you want them to stay in. You can alternate the direction you are weaving and stop adding seed beads, or continue going across the basket and adding seed beads.

  • Step 13

After reaching the edge of the basket, turn remaining wire in half and twist for the border

  • How to make a wire necklace. Super Junior Balloons Pendant - Step 14
    Step 14

Wrap around border and tie by tucking in remaining edges of the frame

    Step 15

    Now the BALLOONS :)

This is from my second basket, but the concept is the same.

Find blue balloon shaped beads, or make your own with clay (and maybe coat with sparkly blue nailpolish?)

Use twisted together wires for ballon strings and attatch beads to end. You could also add charms

  • How to make a wire necklace. Super Junior Balloons Pendant - Step 16
    Step 16

For the top-most ballon, pull wire through, and make a loop so you can fit a chain, or jumpring, through it.

  • How to make a wire necklace. Super Junior Balloons Pendant - Step 17
    Step 17

Attatch balloons together in one bunch, and 'tie' to basket

You can make the wires more ribbon-like by making an end curl slightly

Look! It's the successful round basket!

    Step 18

Now, I was going through an old bead kit, and found blue stars and hearts, PERFECT for the finishing touch for this project...but now only have one of each....
If you know any US bead brand/craft store (Michaels, Jo-Anns, Jolee's Jewels, Blue Moon, etc.)that carries this for cheap or something similar, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me!! (I think they're glass, and they're 1cm in size)

    Thanks!
