Step 1Print the pattern.
Cut out the pattern, pin it on the fabric (don’t forget to take the fabric double as the star needs a front and a back) and cut out the star. -
Step 2Decorate the front of your star: Use the heart that I added to the pattern. You can use felt or a nice cotton fabric for your heart – or some plush as I did. Applique the heart with a simple straight stitch, a zig zag stitch or a decorative quilt stitch.

Step 3I added some more decoration by stitching around the star using the running stitch.
Then sew a pretty button on your star. -
Step 4Pin the front and the back of the star very together (inside out: so that the outside of the front and the outside of the back are together inside of the star). Sew the star together with a straight stich – but leave a space open where you will turn your star inside out afterwards. An asia shop stick is a good tool to turn sewed things.

Step 5Fill the star with wadding – again using an Asian shop stick or something similar.

Step 6Now close the star with the mattress stitch…

Step 7… pin a bit of yarn through the peak of your star so you can hang it somewhere – and sew the next star!
