  Step 1

  I fitted this shirt first. I don't take measurements or anything, I just free hand. I find that my projects come out botched if I even take one measurement...

  But if you want to fit a shirt, just turn it inside out, pinch and pin the extra fabric away.

  (This rib cage image is on the inside of the shirt btw)

  Or put it on inside out and mark along your sides what you can cut away.

  Step 2

  That's usually what I do.
  Then pin along that line, and sew.

  Cut away the extra fabric on the sides.

  Step 3

  Draw some slits on the backside of the shirt.

  Whatever is inside the shape, that's what you're going to cut out, so keep that in mind before you try to make something too wide or too skinny.

  Step 4

  I had some almost transparent fabric laying around, so I dyed it red. Let it dry in a heap to leave strange marks, and thats I what I used to fill the slits in.

  Take the fabric, mine was in peices and pin the fabric underneath the shirt.

  Step 5

  Then sew that up!

  Step 6

  I did it on the front of the shirt too.

  I cut the sleeves off too, just do that outside of the seam of the sleeve, and stitch that up so it won't be rough :)
