About
Making your own syrups opens the doors to different possibilities.
Many people add different things for different flavors. I will post some of these after the last step as a side note.

Step 1
A 2:1 ratio of sugar
Water -
Step 2
1. Simple Syrup is easy to make and is made using a ratio of 2 parts sugar to one part water.
2. Bring the water to a full boil.
3. Add the sugar and stir until it dissolves.
4. The syrup is done when if you dip your stirrer into the mix and pull it out, the mix drips off in a stream (like syrup should, think of maple syrup and pancakes how it drips easily).
5. Let the mix cool, then store in a separate container.
6. Add to your favorite sweetened beverage or recipe. -
Step 3
Tips:
Make bigger batches so you do not need to make it so often.Don't use as much syrup as you would sugar. Remember it is sweeter than the original sugar.
This works best for applications where sugar won't dissolve.
Extra flavor, add brown sugar, which will naturally color the syrup.
Warnings:
Stoves can burn, as well as the close-to-molten sugar you're working with.(Been burned a number of times not pretty.)
Do not let the mix go unattended. Sugar, when it doesn't have any water to work with, will start burning. It will degrade into water vapor and solid carbon which will ruin your pot.

Step 4
Flavor add its:
Vanilla Extract: Mix a few tsps into the mixture.Green tea flavor: Mix simple syrup with about 2 tablespoons of matcha green tea powder.(Or brew your own NO SUGAR green tea and use the tea in place of the water.)
Chocolate flavor: Mix 1 cup of simple syrup with 1 cup of Hershey’s chocolate syrup.
Mint: Add a mint extract or freshly washed mint leaves (remember to pick out the leaves afterward.)
Alcohol Flavored Simple Syrups:
Most simple syrups found in traditional cakes and tortes are flavored with liquor. Make a basic simple syrup, and let it cool to lukewarm. Stir in the liquor of your choice to taste. Then dab the simple syrup on your cake or torte before frosting in order to keep it moist.Lavender, rosemary, lemon thyme, star anise, cinnamon sticks, organic edible rose petals or any other aromatic that you want to flavor your syrup with: Add to the mixture 3 tablespoons dried or fresh lavender flowers(Or the like for the other herbs and spices.)
