You Will Need
-
Step 1
Materials you will need
Base- Im using canvas usually used in longstitch (its about $2 for 5m) however felt, cardboard, foam can all be used
ribbon, Im using 1" grosgrain ribbon by 'so delicate" ($2.99 for 4m)
Base colour material- im using heavy black satin remant form a previous project (free)
Organza or Chiffon for flower - any synthetic material will work- Im using a cream organza remnat ($.90)
Feathers- Im using cheap black, white and grey rooster feathers bought form a $2 shop
Veil (optional) Im using tulle but millenery netting looks better, but i dont have any :(
Button or decal for middle of flower- Mine came in a box of buttons i got at an opshop for $2
lighter
tea light candle
needle and thread (optional)
hot glue gun
Scissors -
Step 3
Glue the base to the fabric
Pinch it as you glue the one inch down to the underside
Dont stress if its not perfect as your covering it.I usually would then hand sew the edges of the base but im lazy :D
Glue the smaller piece of base material to the underside, this should make it appear neater :D
-
Step 4
Glue the comb to the underside (you can do this step last if you prefer to check the comb is positioned right)
Then take an offcut of the base glue/stitch it to an offcut of the material used for the base and glue that to the comb.
Another method i use-
Dont glue the underside piece of base material down in step three
Glue comb to underside base material,
complete above steps ( the usual step 4)
Then stich material ontop of comb to underside material
this provides more security :D -
Step 7
Burn all the edges of the chiffon (Purdy petals)
Use a tealight and tweezers
BE CAREFUL!
don't burn yourself
that being said i think i am always burning myself lol :D -
Step 9
Arrange feathers wear you want them
Glue/sew down cover with a piece of matching ribbon or the base material
If you choose to sew please use a little glue too as it helps the feathers never fall
-
Step 10
Glue flower into position
Voila!
