    Step 1

Cut 3 lengths of 2.5m each and place them on your macrame board, so the middle of the cords are in the working area of the board. Two of the cords will be used as working cords and one will be a holding cord for the beginning section.

    Step 2

Make the first half of a square knot with the two working cords around the holding cord, making sure to work in the middle of all the cords.

Then make the other half of the square knot and tighten so you achieve a full square knot.

    Step 4

Continue making square knots until you reach a length that is long enough for your button to fit through, when you bring the two ends of the knotted section together, while making sure it lays flat. You will have three lengths of cord coming out from either end of the knotted section.

    Step 5

Out of the two middle cords, cross the right length over the left length, and make a half hitch with the left cord that is crossing under around the right cord, which is crossing over. The right cord which is crossing over is the holding cord.

    Step 6

Repeat step 5 to achieve a double half hitch and tighten the knot in the middle, which will bring the two ends of the knotted section together.

    Step 7

Bring the next cord from the left side, underneath the holding cord towards the right, and make a double half hitch with this around the same holding cord.

    Step 8

Now use the last cord on the left side, bring it underneath and make another double half hitch around the same holding cord, as in step 7. You now have a row of knots coming out towards the left side underneath the loop of square knots. Repeat step 7 and 8 on the opposite side, so you end up with a row in the opposite direction.

    Step 9

Out of the two middle cords, cross the right length over the left length and make double half hitch around the holding cord. This starts a new row underneath the previous ones.

    Step 10

Use the next cord from the left side, that is coming underneath the holding cord to make another double half hitch. Repeat on the other side to get the equivalent row, so you end up with rows of knots underneath each other on either side.

    Step 11

Using the two remaining middle cords, bring the right one over the left one, and make a double half hitch.

    Step 12

You will then have three lengths of cord going out to each side. Start on the left side by bringing the inner most cord underneath the middle one of the three and make a double half hitch around it. While tightening the knot, make sure you hold the holding cord towards the middle of the piece, so you achieve a curve in the row.

    Step 13

Repeat on the right side with the equivalent cords, and then use the two holding cords in the middle to make another double half hitch to bring the two rows of cords together by making a point.

    Step 14

Bring the outer cord on one side over the other two cords on that side in towards the middle, and use the first working cord to make a double half hitch.

    Step 15

Make a double half hitch using the next working cord, to create the outer row of the rosebud, that is then curving around the inner row.

    Step 16

Repeat on the other side, and then use the two middle cords to make a double half hitch to connect the two rows together with a point. This is then one complete rosebud.

    Step 17

On both sides, add three beads to the outer cord and one bead to the middle cord.

    Step 18

Use the middle cord with one bead to make a double half hitch around the third cord without beads.

    Step 19

Use the outer cord with three beads to make a double half hitch around the same holding cord.

    Step 20

Repeat on the other side, and this is the beginning of the next rosebud. Continue creating rosebuds using the same technique until you have reached your desired length.

    Step 21

To finish the bracelet, use the middle cord from either side to make a square knot around the two inner cords.

  • How to braid a braided bead bracelet. Rosebud Macrame Bracelet - Step 22
    Step 22

Add your button to the two holding cords with the right side facing up, and make another square knot underneath it.

    Step 23

To finish off the ends of the cords, add glue to the final knot and where the cords are coming out from the knot, and cut off the excess. If you are using a synthetic cord, you can also cut the cords down to about 2mm and use a lighter to singe the ends.
