• 

  Step 1

  Gather your supplies. Depending on the size of the frame you'll need 5-6 CDs.

  Step 2

  Before working on the frame, spend time cutting up the CDs. This is the messy part as bits of the CD will get everywhere. Cover your working surface to make it easier to clean up.

  Step 3

  Once you have a pile of CD pieces, you're ready to glue them to the surface of the frame. First clean the surface of the frame then start adding the pieces in one corner then work your way around the frame. Add E-6000 to the surface then add the pieces.

  Note: use a variety of CDs - they have different colours. The different colours will work well for the mosaic.

  Step 4

  Once you add pieces to the surface, move them into place before the glue dries to create a consistent space between pieces.

  Step 5

  Again mix up the colours and ensure the glossy surface is visible.

  Step 6

  Once you've added the CD pieces, allow the glue to dry. Next cover the surface with white craft paint. This looks like a plaster finish.

  Allow to dry then scrub the surface gently with a wet cloth. This will remove the paint from the CD pieces and leave it in the crevices between the pieces. Rub the surface until you're happy with the finish.

  Step 7

  Note: you don't need to remove all of the white paint from the CD pieces.

  Step 8

  Now add 2-3 coats of Mod Podge to seal the surface. Once dry insert a mirror or photo into the frame then hang.
