  • How to make a fabric cuff. Recycling Art Bangle - Step 1
    Step 1

    you need:
    - empty tape roll
    made of board or
    plastic
    - waste fabric (2
    different types,
    one piece 35 x
    15cm, one or two
    pieces 35 x 2-4cm,
    fabric with
    structured surface
    looks better than
    smooth fabric)
    - sewing machine /
    needle and thread
    - useful, but not
    neccesary: glue /
    hot glue/ double
    faced adhesive
    tape, felting needle
    /embellisher
    (needlefelting
    machine), beads
    and other stuff for
    further decoration

  • How to make a fabric cuff. Recycling Art Bangle - Step 2
    Step 2

    First sew the narrow
    nd of fabric onto the
    larger one, criss-crossing
    with an irregular
    decoration-stich. If you
    like, you can punch the
    two fabrics together with
    a felting needle or an
    embellisher before
    sewing, this looks very
    good with organza for
    example.

    Step 3

    Now wind the fabric
    around the roll to see
    where to sew the ends
    together.

    Step 4

    Join the ends on the
    wrong side to create a
    tube. Cut off the
    overlapping material close
    to the seam.

    Step 5

    Turn the tube inside
out and see if it fits to the
roll. If it does not, make it
    tighter or open the seam
    again to make wider.

  • How to make a fabric cuff. Recycling Art Bangle - Step 6
    Step 6

    Fold the overlapping
    fabric to the inside and
    secure it there. For
    fixation I have tried these
    three methods: glue,
    double faced adhesive
    tape or sewing. All three
    work well.

  • How to make a fabric cuff. Recycling Art Bangle - Step 7
    Step 7

    Method A – glue
    Applicate the glue inside
the tape roll or on the
    edge of the fabric and
    press thogether. You can
stick it on a bottle or a can
if you don’t want to hold
it in your hands while it is
    hardening.

  • How to make a fabric cuff. Recycling Art Bangle - Step 8
    Step 8

    Method B - double faced
    adhesive tape
    This ist the fastest
    method: just fix some tape
on the inside of the roll,
    flap the fabric around on
one side. Now fix a strip
of tape onto the fabric that
is now inside, and flap in
the other side of the fabric
to attach it to the first.

    Step 9

    Method C – Sewing
    Sewing inside the roll is
    kind of tricky, but it
    works. Go around twice to
    have a nicer seam.

  • How to make a fabric cuff. Recycling Art Bangle - Step 10
    Step 10

    Note: If you sew the
    fabric together on the
    inside it usually gets quite
    tight around the role, esp.
    at the corners (right
    bangle), if you glue or
tape it, it is more loose
    (left bangle).

    Step 11

    Decoration
    Now, you can decorate
    the bangle with anything
you like. And then: go out
    and wear it!
