Yet another way to reuse an old t-shirt
Cut an old t-shirt into one long strand of fabric, use the strand like you would use yarn to crochet a pocket. The end.
If you cut the t-shirt into a fine enough strip, you could use it for anything you'd crochet or knit. Bracelet, scarf, purse, etc.
