Try using hot water (just from the kettle) to melt the vinyl slightly first, then you can just cut it with scissors! It's so much easier! If it goes a little floppy just put it in the water again and leave a little to flex then take it out and put something flat and slightly heavy on it!
I made two of these and had a blast doing it! I gave them away as gifts for Christmas, one to my sister, one to my boyfriend, before I could take a photo. Thanks for the idea, they both LOVED them!
Oh, and instead of binder rings, I made them spiral bound using some plastic-insulated electrical wire I picked at the hardware store. It came in this amazing red that I couldn't pass up!
Again, thanks for the inspiration!
I love this idea, so I tried this out. However, I didn't have access to a saw, and I was afraid of breaking the record. Instead, I drilled a few holes in the top, hole punched paper and aligned all the holes together, and then fastened them. Then I decorated the labels. Yay!
I hope Candace H. saw this project!! For all of you out there, take a look at her record album bag posting. It would be a great second project for using the record album! Love it Cat! You are the greatest!
what i did, was just cut one in half, drilled 3 holes in the straight side, then put keychain rings, so it was a record front and back, and added paper in the middle of course.
Will take pictures as soon as I can :3
