Corset for Helen's prom
My daughter Helen wanted something a bit different to wear to the prom and as she knew I wanted to have a bash at corset making she came up with this kind of design sketch and I found a corset pattern that kind of fitted the bill. We went out and found some furnishing fabric with a gold embroidery on it ( I think it's usually used to upholster footstools or something) and it was nice and firm to sew with and took the boning and me bashing it with a mallet to get the metal eyelets in. As it was only the second corset I've made I was pretty pleased with it and Helen seemed to like it , although it has had a glass of wine spilled all over it now! The skirt was a bit improvised and was just layers of the corset fabric, net and organza of different lengths.
