because yes, you should wear a tiara every day
The inspiration for the peacock tiara came from a $400, crazy beautiful version, probably with real crystals and unicorn tears, and definitely without hot glue. So, if you don’t have $400 bucks to shell out, and you have some feathers and hot glue and your own tears on hand, giddy up. Then again, I’m sure the four hundred bucks is worth it, if you go that route. I won’t judge. It looks amaze. Step 1
First I found about eleven peacock feathers of any old size. I'm guessing at that number. Use more, by all means.

I singled out the biggest one for the middle, then paired off the rest to more or less balance on each side. This ain’t a $400 rig. Don't obsess.
Step 2
I warmed up the glue gun and started tacking the feathers to a hard plastic headband I got at the dollar store. My goal was to wear it across my head, Jordie LaForge style, not Alice style.

As you glue, it'll start to get really unruly, like in this pic. You've been warned.
Step 3
Overlap and glue each feather, one at a time, working from the back, then up each side, alternating. You run the risk of misjudging and running out of feathers by the time you get to the middle, but if you do it right it'll look great. I say go for it. You can always find more feathers.

If you're not brave (I wasn't), start from the middle and work your way to the back. You'll have to fiddle with making the feathers overlap correctly, but it's not the end of the world.

Step 4
Trim the feathers. It'll be scary. And slippery. Try to pick a line of color on the feather and cut around it. I used the inspiration a lot here to judge how far down to trim. Make sure to trim the bottoms too, to make a neat line that will sit on your head.
Step 5
Optional: To neaten up the look, glue a ribbon over the feather "stalks" and fold the ribbon under the bottom of the headband. As another optional finishing step, glue some plastic crystals on top of the ribbon.
Step 6
By all means, wear it to go visit the nearest replica of (or actual) Stonehenge that you can find! Try to look incredulous and point to something non-existant, like a picture of the $400 version of the tiara you just crushed into your bags.

In my final pic here, some of the crystals have fallen off because Texas is hotter than hot glue, and the feathers are messy because I tried to travel with my tiara in my suitcase. And then I stuffed it on top of a ball cap. But hey, day tiara. Can we make that a thing? Let's make it a thing.
