have your pick ready wherever you go
My boyfriend asked me to make him some keychain for his bass soft case, so i tried to make something that will look good on it and looks matching with it. but i usually won't be satisfied by just making something look good, i wanted to make it functional as well.. so i decided to make the keychain also functional as a pick holder too.
when i was finished with the project, the shape reminded me of an onigiri so i thought i should be able to make the onigiri version xD and since i was running out of keychain i used a phone strap instead. i guess this should be useful for a female bass player xD

this is my first tutorial, and i think i'm not so good at explaining things but i hope it's clear enough and helpful. fyi i never measure when i sew lol so i can't give any measurement, everything was done by guessing the size.

please forgive me for the ugly pictures, my old cell phone is the only one i had to capture pics then lolol.

    Step 2

using the pick, trace the white felt and cut into the the same shape with the pick (cut them slightly bigger than the pick for seam allowance)

if you want to make eyes and mouth, this is probably where you should do it ^^

    Step 3

cut a wide strip of black felt for the nori, and have it pinned to the two of white felts like shown in picture. the third white felt will go into the middle later, so make a gap in the middle to make some room for the third white felt.

(you might want to try placing the third white felt in the middle before you pin, to see if each felt fits perfectly)

    Step 4

sew the 'nori' to the white felt, using black thread so the thread won't show xD

    Step 5

cut a hole on one of the white felt. make sure the bass pick fits the hole so the pick can be inserted into it.

    Step 8

leave a small opening to insert the fillings. lightly stuff the front side with your fillings of choice (leave the other side empty since this is where we'll have the bass pick inserted)

    Step 9

continue sewing around the edges until it's completely closed.

    Step 10

try inserting your pick into the hole.. see if it fits.

  • How to sew a fabric food charm. Onigiri Bass Guitar Pick Cozy + Cell Phone Charm - Step 11
    Step 11

sew the jump ring onto the onigiri. i didn't have any jump ring so i used something else xD attach the phone strap and there it's done ^^d

you can also sew a face on the front side of the onigiri to make it look cute. i'm not good at making faces, so i didn't add any X(
