  • How to paint a pair of painted shoes. Octo Canvas Heels - Step 1
    Step 1

Collect together your materials and your design.

Make sure your shoes are nice and clean. It is preferable to use new shoes since the canvas is still quite stiff and therefore easier to paint onto.

    Step 2

Sketch out the outline of your design onto your shoes either using a pencil or a light coloured sharpie.

If you want 2 identical shoes (or as identical as you can get them!) I would advise following all these steps on both shoes at the same time. Especially this step :)

    Step 3

Paint a base coat of white acrylic where your design will go. You can skip out this step if you're using white shoes :)

    Step 4

Add on your first colour. Mine is this lovely toothpaste blue <3

    Step 5

Now for the second colour :) Make sure you've covered all the white by the time your last colour goes on.

    Step 6

Outline your design with a black sharpie. You can do this with black paint and a very fine brush, I used this method with the CCS shoes. A sharpie looks neater but might not last as long.

  • How to paint a pair of painted shoes. Octo Canvas Heels - Step 7
    Step 7

Spray your shoes with your spray. The spray must be waterproof and for canvas. I suggest about 4 coats, leaving each to dry for at least 12 hours before adding the next coat.

Follow the instructions on the tin. Always use in a well ventilated area, preferably outside.

    I use Scotch Gard :)

    Step 8

Wait for the final coat to dry and enjoy your shoes :)

You should be able to wear them in all weathers due to the durability of acrylic and the spray. You should also be able to wash them 2 or 3 times in a washing machine before the paint starts to flake, more if you wash them by hand.

@Mika Z.
I found the spray in my cupboard, my dad stocks lots of things like this.
I believe it is pretty common in diy and possibly even craft stores, or you can get it online Happy
