Recipe adapted from www.eatingwell.com

The Valentine comes from the fact that in North Georgia the trucks had not come in in a while due to snow and ice and all I could find were heart covered cupcake liners. :]

  • How to decorate an object cake. Night Of The Living Dead{Valentine} - Step 1
    Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350. Beat together 3/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of canola oil. Beat in 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Add 1/2 cup of butter milk, 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/2 cup of cocoa powder. Fold in 1 1/2 cups of chopped cherries. Bake for 22 to 26 minutes.

Tips: I like to add cherry juice into the batter to make it more runny.

Don't have butter milk? Put in the regular amount of milk with 1 tablespoon of butter.

Make sure your cup cakes have enough time to cool. I left mine over night since my decorations had to dry overnight.

Homemade Fondant time. I used an unknown ration of butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. {sorry I did not measure} The consistency should be kind of dry.

After you have made it roll it out on the counter using powdered sugar on the counter and fondant to keep it from sticking.

Frosting is also an unknown amount of powdered sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and green food coloring... But hey everybody knows the thickness of frosting. :]

Dirt is crushed chocolate gram crackers.

Tip: Cut a tooth pick in half and stick it behing the tombstone if it will not stand on its own.

You can also add a head coming out of the grave if you like. An arm coming out would also look cute.
